We headed to Cape Cod today to celebrate the 3rd birthday for my nephew, Dylan. It was the first Memorial Day Weekend day I’ve taken off in a long time. I have always worked that weekend because I’m off the rest of the week and there isn’t any much point in taking off the day. I’m glad I did this year. I really enjoy getting to go to these birthday parties. My sister,, Shelby, does an amazing job decorating and creating an overall theme. This year was sports. She made a ton of cupcakes that looked like different sports balls like baseball, basketball, soccer and football. Then she arranged them in the shape of a 3 and also included a plate of candy dipped Oreos that also looked like sports balls.

At the party the kids had a great time. There were a bunch of other little kids and older kids to play with. Andrew had some older girls to follow around. He does enjoy playing games with any of the older girls. But them he is also incredibly sweet with his cousin Kylie. He kept going and getting more pieces of watermelon to share with Kylie. He must have shared 3 slices with her.

Better Get the New Mike and Ike Patriotic Mix for Your Memorial Day

Mike and Ike Patriotic Mix

We received a bunch of great Mike and Ike Candy to taste and review. I actually asked them for some samples because I saw them in the store. Opinions are as, always my own.

In the video below Eva and I taste test from of the latest Summer Flavors from Mike and Ike. The three flavors that we try out in the video are Mike and Ike Italian Ice, Mike and Ike Lemonade Blends and Mike and Ike Patriotic Mix. My favorite box of the three has to be the lemonade blends. I love the sour sweet candy. I was also pleasantly surprised with the Patriotic Mix. I wasn’t sure how I would like the Vanilla Ice Cream but it worked for me. Cherry Pie and Blueberry Cobbler were great, too. I had seen jars of these flavors at Target and was really impressed with them, they looked great. I then contacted my PR contact and asked for a sampling and got way more than I bargained for. So we did a blind taste test video with three of the boxes and have a second blind taste test with three other boxes to be released another day.

Let me just say that I cam so glad that Mike and Ike candy from Just Born Quality Confections put Cherry pie in their Patriotic Mix instead of Apple Pie. It is funny, my extreme dislike of apple flavored candy is what got me connected with Mike and Ike. I love that they have kept their original fruit flavors original and that means that Lime stayed in the mix. It never got replaced by green apple. It is a major reason why I love Mike and Ike candy.
