Review: Nerf Zombie Strike SlingFire

Carrying the SlingFire

Back when I was at Toy Fair I got to spend some time with the great Nerf toys. My favorite one of the bunch was the Zombie Strike SlingFire. When we were planning Eva’s Birthday Party I asked if I could get a few Nerf items to make the party extra special. We received the SlingFire and the Nerf Rebelle Rapid Red. Opinions of the toys are 100% my own.

The SlingFire is an excellent Nerf dart blaster. It looks great and has some fun features. My favorite feature is the way you can quickly load it. You can flick the blaster forward and back for one handed loading. I immediately thought of the movie Terminator 2 where the T-800 (Ahnold) is riding the Harley along the streets of LA and then spots John Conner. He’s riding along and there are locked chain link gates. The T-800 loads his shotgun in the most incredible way and blasts the locks off the gates. I was so tempted to hop on a BMX bike and re-create that with the SlingFire.

The SlingFire has a six dart clip and includes 6 Zombie Strike darts. You are going to be reloading often because this is so much fun to use. While you can try and reload the Terminator 2 way you can also reload like a cowboy from an old Western by holding the blaster and swinging the lever forward with the other hand to load up the next dart. The SlingFire fires one dart at a time and can use and of the Nerf darts that are of the same size.

The SlingFire felt great in my hands. It is lightweight and is molded perfectly to my grip. It is obvious that a lot of attention was put into the look of this blaster. It is a great looking blaster and the darts fire most of the time. I’ve had a few duds happen but for the most part the darts are firing great. We had so much fun using this at the birthday party while hunting monsters.
