Photo-A-Day #3485

A while back I reviewed some Big Hero 6 toys from Bandai. Well, Bandai also has some new model kits called SpruKits and they also sent me one to review. SpruKits are highly detailed models that snap together. The pieces stay on a spru until you pop them off. Each piece is numbered to make it easy to identify and assemble. The most important thing to do while building one of these models is to leave the pieces on the spru until it is time to use them. You really have to follow directions to get the most out of assembling these models. I was fortunate enough to be sent a Batman: Arkham City model. It is a level two and has 95 pieces. It was really easy to assemble. Lucky for me Andrew slept for an hour so I could assemble and photograph my new Batman.

Batman SpruKit Box

I began seeing these SpruKits in the stores before heading to Time to Play a few weeks ago. While I was at the Holiday Showcase I got to see a few other kits. There are characters from DC Comics, Halo and LBX – Little Battlers Experience. I have never head of LBX but the models are pretty sweet. Very colorful and cool weapons. The LBX Achilles is my favorite.

Batman's Head

So far, for DC Comics there are various Batman models and also Superman ones. Some from the movies and some from the comics and video games and there is an original comics Joker figure as well. I’m hoping that SpruKits can land the new shows like Arrow and The Flash and we can assemble a Stephen Amell version of Green Arrow. Those would be wicked popular.

The Spru

Like I said earlier, assembly was pretty easy. It did take me time, but that was because I really took my time and wanted to assemble this model the right way. Instructions were very easy to follow and in full color. Locating items on the spru was simple. In all it was an hour long process and it was very rewarding because at the end I had a pretty amazing action figure that I know was solidly built. Batman has a natural range of motion and is very posable. There is even a stand to use when creating your dynamic poses.

Batman with Batarang

There were three extra pieces when I was done. They were extra hands or weapons. This kit came with the batarang and the grappling hook gun. The Level 3 Batman Arkham City is a 161 piece set and it comes with extensive accessories. That figure is also 9 inches tall. Mine is 5 inches tall and totally kicks but over so many other action figures I own.

The one drawback that I found from the whole process was the cape. The cape is cheap looking compared to the rest of the model. I would have liked some other sort of material instead of some strange plastic. But that was the only issue I have with the whole model. the rest is amazing.
