ODD Squad Saves the World – Tomorrow on PBS

Odd Squad Save the World

A fun thing about being a PBS Kids VIP – Very Involved Parent, is the great programs that I get to preview early. This past year I learned about the new show Odd Squad while I was at the Annual Meeting. It was great to interview Tim McKeon and Adam Peltzman the series creators. They were very funny and that humor is evident in the show. Not only do the kids love it but I am a big fan as well. The series is great for kids and adults. The main curriculum is math and each show explores different math concepts and explodes them out in the episode to teach kids in a fun way.

The episode on Monday is one hour and features four stories. “Rise of the Hydraclops” is the first story and it is about Otto and Olive locating a treasure chest that Oscar buried. The agents use units of measure to find the treasure. Oscar is my favorite character on the show. He’s the gadget guy and the gadget guy of a team is usually my favorite guy. He’s clever and funny and absent minded. He’s just really funny. The second part is “Dance like Nobody’s Watching” and the Odd Squad headquarters is in lockdown so Olive, Otto, Ms. O and Oscar need to use sequencing to avoid a series of booby traps to disable the alarm system. The third story is “Recipe for Disaster” – In this one Olive and Otto explain to Ms. O how a case went wrong, each in their own way. The fourth story is the best, in my opinion and it is called “O is Not for Old” The agents throw a surprise party for Ms. O. Ms. O kicks butt in this one. Potato!
