Company Picnic 2015

Photo-A-Day #3775

Today was my company picnic. We had a great day. It was the best ever company picnic so far. The day started out cloudy and rainy but luckily we had our raincoats with us. For the first time it was not sweltering hot. It was cool and so comfortable. Instead of starting with the fried dough we started with the kids doing the bungee trampoline for the first time. They had a great time doing this. We also got into the line for the pirate ship because that always fills up the quickest. The line wasn’t too long and the kids got to color as they waited.

Preparing to go on the pirate ship

After the pirate ship we went and got our fried dough. The kids played in the fun house while I waited in the fried dough line and got four of them. These were smaller than past years but very good indeed. After we did that we went and got a family photo put onto a Rubik’s Cube. The kids then did a panning for special rocks activity and Eva got an Obsidian arrowhead. She can now destroy White Walkers. We then went and had a snack of chowder, mussels and fruit. This would sustain us for a while so we could check out more things to do.

Andrew at the Magic Show

We went to see the magic show and Andrew got himself part of the performance. He was amazed by the magic. When the magician pulled a quarter from his ear Andrew hopped up and came running to us exclaiming what had happened. He was so cute. He also got to help with some card tricks as well.

Wacky Chad

The second performer was Wacky Chad and he was fantastic. He was billed as a Stunt Comedian. He did tricks on a skateboard, tiny bicycle, a pogo stick and also a giant unicycle. I shot a bunch of pictures of him doing his thing and used the high continuous shooting feature which made the images into an animation when they were uploaded to Google. Here is the best one I got.

Hickory Horned Devil Caterpillar.

One new exhibit this year was a whole bunch of caterpillars. They were set up on the different trees and branches that were best for each of the caterpillars. Some were making cocoons and they also had some moths and butterflies. The caterpillar that is above is called the Hickory Horned Caterpillar. It is the largest caterpillar of North America. I got to touch it and take photos of it.

Eva riding a pony

the kids also wanted to ride the ponies. They loved riding the ponies all around the little loop. Andrew was especially excited to wear my hat as he rode around the loop.

Andrew being a cowboy

We stayed all the way to the end of the day. This was pretty much the longest time we have stayed at the picnic. We also enjoyed lobster and so much more. In our last 15 minutes Eva did an obstacle course and Andrew did the bounce house. The very last part of the day both Andrew and Eva tried to climb a special ladder. Andrew made it almost all the way up to hit the button. Eva got most of the way there, she didn’t mind not hitting the button.

Eva tackling the Ladder

It was a great day, lots of family fun and great food. The kids are the perfect ages for enjoying this annual event.
