Heading into the Holiday Season I am excited for my favorite holiday, Halloween. I know it is a little over a month away but you have to prepare. If you shop now and have the willpower not to eat all your purchases you should be ready for all the tricksters that come your way. But, why should they get all the fun. I’m sure that family, friends and co-workers might enjoy a little treat, too. So, I applied for this shoppertunity so that I could #BOOItForward to my co-workers because we have a very tough shift (Weekend Overnights 12 hours at a time) and a treat is just what we need to improve morale. So I went to Walmart and picked up a few supplies.

I wanted to make BOO Kits for the people in my group. My intent was to get to work before everyone else and put them on their desks without them know it, but even on my earliest day I still can’t beat some people there, so I was found out. That doesn’t mean that you can’t be sneaky and fun when you do your own BOO kit. How do you make a BOO Kit? You are in luck because I will give you a tutorial on exactly how I made mine.

At Walmart I picked up some supplies. I got the Mars Mixed Minis 52 oz. bag filled with M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, and TWIX®. I also got the Wrigley Monster Stash 315ct bag which is HUGE! That contained a variety of SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, and LIFESAVERS®. I also found some fun Halloween monster themed soda like 7UP®, A&W Root Beer and Sunkist®. I picked up some Halloween themed bags that said BOO on them and some tissue paper. I’m not sure why the tissue paper, but it seems to go hand in hand with gift bags. So, I got Halloween themed tissue paper. I went a little overboard and above the allotted money for the shop but I did end up with a little over and it “might” make it to Halloween, if I put it under lock and key.

Making a BOO Kit

1. Gather your supplies and print out some BOO cards. Cut out this “We’ve been BOO’d” sign. Fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together. Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bundles.

2. Add the Halloween mini soda cans to the bottom of the gift bag. I found that two of these cans side by side fit perfectly. It fills the bag and gives it a good solid base and weight so you can add the candy on top.

3. Put in your tissue paper on top of the soda. You are going to fill up the tissue paper portion with candy and the soda cans at the bottom will be a fun surprise, don’t forget to show those monsters facing up.

4. Add your candy. I put in a big variety of all the candy that I purchased so that each person got some M&M’s®, SNICKERS®, and TWIX® plus some SKITTLES®, STARBURST®, and LIFESAVERS®.

I Gave Myself one of the BOO Kits #BOOItForward #CollectiveBias #Ad

I made my kits and intended to get to work before anyone else. I really wanted to create a buzz over who was doing this. I should not have done it on a weekend where I got barely any sleep and then had to run a few errands before getting into work. I missed my window so I put the BOOItForward BOO Kits on people’s desks and swore the folks who were in to secrecy over who gave the BOO Kits. I even made one for myself to throw everyone off the trail. Plus, I wanted some candy. There was a little buzz over the bags and a few people are going to create some BOO Kits of their own and BOO It Forward to other people in the group. I directed them to the website where they could get more ideas.
