Stikbot Studios Review

Stikbot Studio

I received a Stikbot Studio from Zing to play with and review. Opinions of this product are 100% my own. I actually went and bought the Stikbot Studio on my own even before I was asked to review the product. I saw it in the store and was really impressed with the idea. I got the special edition set from Target and a couple of additional Stikbot figures. For the review I received the Stikbot studio with two figures and a couple additional figures.

What Stikbot Studio does is that it helps you create fun little stop motion animation videos of the Stikbot figures. Each figure is super poseable and sticks to many surfaces due to the suction cups on the hands and feet. I found that I needed to have a nice slick surface and had to lick the suction cups a little to make them stick for a long time. It also made the sticking last longer. This came into play when doing more crazy poses. You can see that most of the Stikbots are on the glass surface of my phone in the photo below.

My Stikbot Collection

Overall this is something very cool. I have worked with this toy and app on Android and iOS. The app is really good on iOS but I have not had a good experience with an Android phone and I’ve tried it on three of them. So I will have to steal my wife’s phone in order to make some actual videos. I haven’t made any videos of the actual Stikbot product but I did Periscope using it the other day and I have some videos on my alternate blog, Big Damn Kid. Those were videos I made of unboxing the toys I bought. I also made a follow up of me using the iOS app.

I thought of my kids when I bought this toy and I know my daughter wants to start making movies. I want her to make movies, too. She has such a creative spirit and Stikbot is a way for her to express that creativity. She’ll just have to take Allison’s phone to make her movies until the Android App is better. I see that it keeps getting updated but it still does strange things to me. I know it will get there, though.

Here is an official tutorial for using the Stikbot App.
