Shooting Hot Wheels with My Favorite Photographer

Photo-A-Day #3918

Eva Taking Hot Wheels Shots

Before Christmas I received a Neat-Oh!® Hot Wheels™ 18 Car Vintage Tin to review. With the holidays things got crazy and today was the first day that I got some alone time with Eva so that we could open a ton of Hot Wheels cars and play with them, photograph them and show off this great tin. I had already picked up the Neat-Oh!® Star Wars™ Vehicles Tin when it went on sale at Target. The tins look fantastic and they hold 18 cars each. I’ve been collecting the Star Wars and Marvel Hot Wheels vehicles for the past few years. I hadn’t opened any of them and When I brought them out Eva was so excited. She got to open them all and choose which ones she wanted me to photograph. Eva had also gotten out her camera but the battery was dead so we set it on the charger while I shot with my camera.

I shot for a while and Eva opened the cars. We had the time to ourselves because Andrew had a playdate downstairs. It is hard to do something like this with Andrew around because all he wants to do is touch everything and walk around and it gets me too frustrated. Eva just gets excited about the characters and wants to talk about Star Wars. She notices things on the vehicles and point them out. She gets it and that is great. She is also starting to enjoy photography more so once her camera had more of a charge to it she asked to switch places with me and take some shots of her own. She wanted to put different cars together to make scenes whereas I was simply taking shots of each car from various angles to document them.

After opening all of the Star Wars Cars except for a few doubles that we kept in the boxes and one triple that Eva asked to give to her friend, she went downstairs to show Allison the photos she had taken. I began to open up all of the Marvel Hot Wheels that I had because those were the ones that would go into the new Neat-Oh!® Hot Wheels™ 18 Car Vintage Tin. Well, at least 18 of them would go into that tin. I was able to get most of the Age of Ultron Avengers into that tin. Opening all of those cars really gave me a bunch more room in the office. I’ll have to get the Neat-Oh Star Wars EP7 Storage Tin for the rest of my Star Wars Hot Wheels.
