Skylanders Imaginators is Coming and You Can Create Your Own Skylanders

I’ve been so caught up in playing Skylanders Battlecast that I didn’t even realize that a new Skylanders console game was on the way. The sixth iteration of the Skylanders franchise will be called Skylanders Imaginators. The concept is pretty amazing and I’m very excited about ever new innovation that Skylanders brings to the table. This time the major innovation is that Portal Masters (kids of all ages even big kids like me) can, for the first time, create their own Skylanders characters and play them in the game. There are so many different combinations of character parts to choose from that you could probably never even reach the end of the possibilities. I had a hard enough time swapping each and every Skylander from Swap Force to hit 256. Can you imagine not only tops and bottoms of the characters but heads, arms, legs and more. The possibilities are limited only to your imaginations. Take a look at the official trailer for Skylanders Imaginators!

That looks incredible. I am so excited to play. I know that the kids will want to spend hours on end creating new and exciting characters. That is something that kids have been asking for a while. Well, now it is a reality. Or it will be on October 16 when the game releases in the US. I have so many more details to share with you including some character images and toy images and the official press release. Keep reading after you see the image of the all new Starter Pack which is up for Pre Order already. The starter pack will be $74.99 but if you have Amazon Prime you can pre-order Skylanders Imaginators on Wii U for $59.99. (My affiliate link). You can get the game in many other consoles as well. Here’s what the Starter Pack looks like.

Now, on to more information that you are ever going to need for Skylanders Imaginators.

Skylanders Imaginators - Golden Queen
A powerful sorceress made entirely of gold and riches beyond your wildest imagination. She’d trade her entire fortune for just a little more.  But why trade when you can steal?  So that’s what she did.  She stole, and stole, and stole!  No matter how much she took though, it was never enough.  Through evil sorcery, she even learned how to turn people and objects into solid gold!  Yet STILL, that just wasn’t enough. The idea that there was any amount of treasure out in Skylands that didn’t belong to her was infuriating, so she set out on a quest to take every last cent of it.  But she couldn’t do it alone.  It was then that she formed the Doom Raiders – the most notorious group of Villains ever assembled – declaring herself their unquestioned leader. Together, the Doom Raiders terrorized Skylands until Master Eon and the Trap Masters put a stop to them, locking all them up inside Cloudcracker Prison. Eon then gave these Villains a choice – either remain imprisoned or become Skylander Senseis, teaching a new generation of Imaginators their formidable battle skills as well as how to stay clear of a life of crime. They accepted the deal but first had to prove themselves by re-arranging all the books in the Academy’s library, a task which took almost two years, and much to the Queen’s dismay, had nothing to do with gold. But this gave her an opportunity to rethink her insatiable desire for treasure and that maybe there is more to life than stealing. She now trains the Sorcerer Class and considers herself mostly reformed.

Skylanders Imaginators King Pen
King Pen hails from a militaristic unit of penguins who protect the Cloudmelt Glaciers.  During an epic battle, King Pen was trapped in an avalanche and had to take refuge in a nearby cave for the remainder of the winter season.  During his solitude, he was visited by a mysterious Yeti Master, named Snow Wah, who began teaching him an ancient combat style known as “Flipper-Fu”.  King Pen was already a skilled fighter, but the wise teacher helped him to understand the spiritual and philosophical nature of warfare, turning the penguin into an unstoppable force.  When he finally emerged from the cave, tales of his newfound abilities spread far and wide.  When Master Eon caught wind, he recruited King Pen into his top secret training program, where he quickly rose up the ranks to become the leader of the Skylander Sensei.  Years later, King Pen returned to the site of the avalanche to thank his teacher, but no evidence of Snow Wah or the cave was ever found – leaving many to wonder if the Yeti had ever existed at all.

Skylanders Imaginators - TriTip
Long before he became a Sensei, Tri-Tip wandered Skylands searching for the mythical Warping Walnut Tree, rumored to never be at the same place long before moving to a new location.  After many years, he found the tree – and just before it vanished once again, he took from it a Golden Walnut, which was said to reveal life’s purpose to those who could open it.  But to his dismay, the enchanted walnut could not be cracked no matter how hard he struck it with his thick head.  Realizing that only a weapon of immense power could crack the magical shell, and not his head, Tri-Tip forged a mighty mace and trained with the greatest warriors to become the ultimate Master of Smashing.  But on the day when he was finally ready to open the shell, he paused.  It was then that Tri-Tip realized his true purpose – one that the unopened walnut had been teaching him all along.  His purpose in life was to use his skills to protect Skylands.  He then gifted the unopened walnut to one of his students and left to join the Skylanders.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – June 1, 2016 – Since the launch of Skylanders®, kids around the world have sent Toys For Bob, the pioneers of the toys-to-life category, hand-drawn Skylanders with one special request – please bring my Skylander to life. This October, Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) will make that wish a reality. For the first time, Skylanders® Imaginators will empower Portal Masters to unleash their imaginations by giving them the freedom to create their own Skylander.

“Since we launched the very first Skylanders game, we have received countless letters and drawings from kids all over the world sharing their vision for their own Skylanders. No matter how in touch with our ‘inner kids’ we might think we are as adults, nothing comes close to the endless creativity that springs from the mind of an inspired kid,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “We’ve turned this year’s game into the ultimate blank canvas for kids’ imaginations so they can create and play their own Skylanders.”

Skylanders Imaginators gives players immense possibilities — including appearance, powers, abilities, names, catchphrases, musical themes and much more — to create the wildest Skylanders imaginable. The amazing depth of the creation system could allow for more than a googol distinctive characters.

With the evil Kaos on a new quest to take over Skylands, it’s up to Portal Masters everywhere to create their own Skylanders – known as Imaginators – using the new elementally-aligned toy type called the Creation Crystal. Creation Crystals allow players to transport their Imaginators to consoles at anytime, anywhere!

About the Skylanders® Franchise

The award-winning, $3 billion Skylanders franchise has sold through more than 250 million toys1 since pioneering the toys-to-life category in 2011 with the debut of Skylanders® Spyro’s Adventure. In 2012, Skylanders® Giants further evolved the genre and added LightCore® characters to the collection of interaction figures. Skylanders® SWAP Force™, which launched in 2013, introduced an all new play pattern – swapability. In 2014, Skylanders® Trap Team reversed the magic of bringing toys to life by allowing players to pull characters out of the digital world into the physical world and became the number 1 kids’ console game globally1. Skylanders® SuperChargers launched on September 20, 2015 and expanded upon the franchise’s signature gameplay to introduce vehicles-to-life for the first time.
