I received a big box of Skylanders Imaginators figures from Activision for free to review. Opinions of the game and toys are 100% my own.I was so surprised to find out that I was going to be getting a full set of Wave One toys for Skylanders Imaginators. The only thing I am missing is the Chompy Mage which is an exclusive to Amazon.com. It is only being sold as part of the Villain Sensei 5-pack. I had ordered that and the Sensei 8-Pack but cancelled those orders after today’s delivery. The box itself was 13 pounds! Inside there were so many figures in the box. I couldn’t even open all of them today. I decided then to just unbox the starter pack so that I could play it tonight. That didn’t even happen until later tonight. I did have an embargo until 7pm tonight and used that time to create a couple of videos. First up is my opening the giant box from Activision.

When the game launches on October 16th there will also be some blind bag items to pick up. Those are the Imaginite Treasure Chests. Those will contain nine different items to make Imaginators characters. There will be over 1,000 items total. You find them in the game and can also get them in those chests.
The Skylanders Imaginators Dark Edition Starter Pack includes three characters, Dark Golden Queen a Villain Sensei of the Sorcerer Battle Class and the Earth Element, Dark Wolfgang a Villain Sensei of the Bowslinger Battle Class and the Undead Element, and Dark Master King Pen a Sensei of the Brawler Battle Class and the Water Element. The set also contains the game, a portal of power and three Creation Crystals. They are a Fire Creation Crystal, Life Creation Crystal and a Dark Creation Crystal. The stickers that are found in the box are those for the creation crystals so that you can mark your created characters battle class and name. There is also a golden Imaginite Chest that gives 9 random items to the player to create more Skylanders. Here is my video of the unboxing.
On top of all these great toys was the announcement that Skylanders Academy is hitting Netflix on October 28th and the series trailer has launched. Here is the details on the show plus the trailer.
Skylanders Academy follows the heroic adventures of the Skylanders team, a ragtag group of heroes with unique elemental skills who travel the vast Skylands universe, protecting it from evil-doers. They achieve victory by setting aside their egos, learning to trust one another and fighting as one to maintain harmony and balance in the land. Led by showrunner Eric Rogers (Futurama), the animated action-adventure series features the voices of Justin Long (Dodge Ball) as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical, Phineas and Ferb) as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) as Eruptor and Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) as Glumshanks. Additional voice talent includes Susan Sarandon, Daniel Wu, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Chris Diamantopoulos and Harland Williams, among others. Netflix members worldwide will learn the “Skylander way” –and enjoy all of the humor and heart in between– starting with 12 episodes this Fall (Season 1 premieres Friday, Oct. 28) and continuing with a second season in late 2017. Skylanders Academy is the first project from Activision Blizzard Studios.
And today was also the launch of the Skylanders Creator App. I made a couple of Skylanders and a whole video about the app which I had posted to YouTube but it got knocked for a copyright notice because of the app music. I’ll remake it and post tomorrow. I haven’t done it yet because I’m waiting to have all 3 imaginate chests working before I record. But this is the character that I made. I call it Zephrous
