#AdventureFriday Splash Pad

Photo-A-Day #3703

It was a hot one day for #AdventureFriday. I was up with everyone in the morning and then folded a mountain of laundry while Andrew watched some PBS. Around 9 we went to Morin’s and split a Fenway Fable and a Grilled Blueberry muffin. Andrew loves breakfast as much as I do.

With our bellies fueled up we headed over to the Capron Park Zoo because I knew that the Splash Pad was up and running. Well, it seems that there were a bunch of schools that were having outings and they had the same idea. When we got there a huge line welcomed us. We went over to the playground and played for a while so that the line would go down. While we played Andrew made a friend. He’s such a friendly kid. He goes up to anyone and introduces himself. It makes a trip to Target quite interesting.

We entered the zoo and Andrew did the Splash Pad first. There were a bunch of kids on it but he held his own. It is crazy watching how other people’s kids act. There was one kid who wanted to use the same sprayer that Andrew was using and since Andrew had it first he wasn’t about to give it up to some kids who tried to bully his way into using it. I watched the interaction and saw the kid try and take the toy from Andrew. Andrew wouldn’t let him have it and eventually the kid screamed “I hate you” to Andrew. Took all I had not to go over and drop kick that little punk into the Lemur pond. What a horrible little kid. This made Andrew cry. He came over to me and was bawling. I told him that there are kids who are not nice. You have to just remove yourself from the situation, go to another toy. Andrew bounced back pretty quickly. For me it took a little longer.

While Andrew was playing I was taking photos with my new Samsung NX500. Another dad sat next to me and remarked that he loved his NX300. He thought that mine was the same camera. He was a professional photographer and was just getting into the whole Samsung line. We talked for a while as we watched the kids.

After the Splash Pad we walked the whole zoo. Then I took Andrew home the long, long way to get him to fall asleep. He was pretty tired so it didn’t take long before he was out.

I keep thinking about that little kid and his “I hate you”. What will be our reaction when Andrew repeats those words. Because, you know it is coming, kids absorb everything around them and it comes out at the most unusual of times. I’m not looking forward to this one showing its ugly head.
