Today A package arrived at my door and I was excited to finally see the contents. I knew that this was coming but wasn’t sure when. A few months ago I was asked to write a post about ShopRite Partners in Caring program. By doing so I was helping raise awareness of an offshoot of the program called Bloggers in Caring. I was also asked if my photo could be used on a special edition box of Honey Nut Cheerios. Sounded good to me, it’s not like Wheaties is gonna come calling anytime soon.

3,000 boxes of cereal will be donated to local food banks in ShopRite’s trading area! Unfortunately for me, I’m not in the trading area for ShopRite and I’d really like to pick up a few more of these special boxes, but that isn’t really the point. The point is that people took time to Blog it Forward and help raise money. But if you want to buy one of these special boxes check out ShopRite this week because it is now on sale.

Now they have a new way of helping raise awareness of the issue of hunger.

“ShopRite Partners In Caring, together with General Mills, has launched a video contest, Expressions of Hunger, that challenges everyday people to submit videos using song, poetry, dance or dramatic reading that creatively express the plight of the hungry or offer solutions to the issue of hunger. Up to six grand prize winners will have their stories and photos featured on a special-edition Cheerios box available exclusively at ShopRite stores in September 2010!”

Here is a link to the contest http://www.expressionsofhunger.com. You can go there for the complete contest rules. The contest is open for submissions from January 1 through March 1, 2010. Please note that contest is only open to residents of NJ, NY, CT, PA, MD and DE.

      Thanks Mo,
The places that are served are concentrated in the NY to PA area. Nothing north of CT. ShopRite is also concentrated in New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut and Maryland. I’m trying to find someone who can buy some for me and ship them to me.

  2. A buddy has established a blog that is working to inform people about animal cruelty, especially toward dogs and pups. He and many other allies are committing a great deal of work into it. We get a lot of inspiration from sites like yours. It’s really tragic how some people maltreat animals.
