Book Review: OMG The Glitter Trap

OMG the Glitter Trap

We received a copy of OMG: The Glitter Trap to read and review. Opinions of the book are 100% our own.

Last month Eva and I read the book OMG: The Magic Mistake and we loved it. The book was funny and exciting and full of silliness. We laughed as we read each chapter together. We liked it so much that we were sent the next book, which was actually book 1 of the series. We read the books out of order but it did not diminish our enjoyment of the second book and it did not spoil the first book for us, either.

In Oh My Godmother: The Glitter Trap, we meet for the first time, Lacey Unger-Ware, her best friend Sunny and the cranky fairy godmother Katarina. Through a turn of events Lacey inadvertently injures Katarina and unless she wants to spend the rest of her life hated by all animals all over the world she needs to make things right and step up as a substitute fairy godmother. Being hated by all animals everywhere is not going to fly with Lacey since she loves animals and her dream is to be an intern at the local zoo.

Lacey must make the dreams come true for a new girl in school, a popular girl named Paige Harrington. Paige and Lacey are not friends and in fact part of the reason that Katarina gets injured is because of Paige and her over use of glitter on posters. Lacey soon finds out that the life of a popular girl isn’t always perfect.

The book is filled with some very silly situations and I’m glad to have it in our library stable of books to read at bedtime with Eva. It is funny, has heart and is a whole new take on the fairy godmother.

Here is the book’s description

OMG: The Glitter Trap

Age: 8–12
Price: $16.99
ISBN: 1423163737

“With a name like Lacey Unger-Ware, surviving middle school is hard enough. It only gets worse when Lacey’s life collides (literally) with Paige Harrington’s, when Lacey ruins one of Paige’s cheer posters and ends up covered in sparkles, glue—and with Paige’s smart-mouthed fairy godmother caught in the glittery trap of her tangled hair. With Katarina too damaged to continue her fairy duties, Lacey must take over as Paige’s fairy godmother, or risk sabotaging her own dreams. Can bumbling but lovable Lacey keep her new identity a secret and master godmother-hood? Debut authors Barbara Brauner and James Mattson, with illustrator Abigail Halpin, craft a hilarious and adorable modern-day fairytale that will have tweens clamoring for the next book in the Oh My Godmother series.”
