About the MEME: I need to pick 7 CD’s or music tracks that I am listening to right now. 5 from CD player at home and two from the car. Here’s the deal, because I now have an iPod I hardly ever use my CD player in the car. I never really used it much to begin with but for now I listen to many podcasts. Music Related MEME…

Today Allison and I started the day with some bacon, egg and cheese English muffins that I made. They were very tasty. I felt like making breakfast this weekend so on Friday when I got home from my trip I stopped at the store and got the supplies needed. I also added to Allison’s reserves of Limeade. She loves the stuff. Simply Limeade is the best because there is no high fructose corn syrup.

In the afternoon I got an e-mail message from The Transformers Collector’s Club. The registration form and brochure for BotCon 2007 had just come out. I immediately filled out my Registration form and faxed it in. There is a great feature this year which is an early screening of the Transformers Live action movie. You know, the one I’ve been counting down to for over 2 years now. Well, I will get to see the movie 6 days early as long as my registration was one of the first ones to make it in. Also this year the collector’s set is an all Decepticon one which will include the rest of the seekers. That will be pretty sweet. And I signed up for the top package so I will be getting a bonus figure as well as admission to the awards dinner on Saturday night. I hope that my friends Ryan and Don can make it to the convention too. It will be nice to go to this thing with friends. This will also be the first Botcon I will have gone to since 2003.

Tonight Allison and I went with Jenn to see Ellis Paul at the Common Fence in Portsmouth, RI. We had never been to this venue before but were eager to check it out.

The Common Fence Point Community Hall was very close to Evelyn’s Drive In. I figured that we would have a nice dinner there before the show but they do not open until this coming Monday. Oh well, we drove a little ways further to the Stone Bridge Restaurant in Tiverton, RI. The food at the Stone Bridge was good. They had a selection of seafood and Italian dishes and the view was very nice. We watched the sunset through the windows. I went outside and across the street to get the Photo-A-Day picture and a couple other pictures.

Then we headed over to the Common Fence Point Community Hall. The place was already packed at 7:20pm. A little inside knowledge that we will keep for next visit is that the doors open at 7:00pm and you can bring your own food and drinks to the hall. We will know for our next trip. The Common Fence Point Community Hall was a very nice little place, there were tables through the middle of the room and folding chairs all around the outer edges. We sat by the back wall. As we were waiting for the show to begin we saw a friend of mine from College, Stevie D and his wife Kristen. We had seen them at a previous Ellis Paul show back in January of 2004. It was nice to talk with them and catch up a bit. We’ll probably see them in another 3 years at some other Ellis Paul show.

The show was very good. Flynn opened the show and he was really on his game tonight. I really enjoyed his music this evening and his story about meeting Cher gets better and better. Flynn has a great way of storytelling and is very enjoyable to watch.

After Flynn was done there was a short intermission and Ellis took to the stage. He played many of the songs that we have come to know and love over the years and he introduced us to two new songs. I do not know the name of the songs but one was probably called Summertime and the other had to do with wabi sabi. Wabi Sabi basically means treasuring those things that change in our lifetime and grow old and become more wonderful. I am paraphrasing but I think that was the gist.

After the show we bought Essentials which is a two disc set of Ellis‘ music. Then we got in line and got that CD signed by Ellis and Jenn took our picture with Ellis.

I also took a few pictures during the show. Only once did I forget and let the flash go off. The rest of the time I tried to capture Ellis and Flynn when they were not moving, so I have tuning pictures.

and one of the biggest happy surprises from the show was that Ellis is writing a children’s album. We are very excited about that one.

Photo-A-Day #722 03/31/07

Last night when we were at the Christopher Williams show and I was talking with Chris we discussed Photo-A-Day. You may not know this, but I hope you do because that means you’ve been following Photo-A-Day for a while now, Christopher was the inspiration for Photo-A-Day.

We were discussing it and Christopher has been kicking an idea around about taking a perspective a day. He had to explain it a bit to me so today I took a photo from my perspective, right before I enjoy some diet pink grapefruit soda. This might not be what he was talking about and maybe I just didn’t want to go outside into the crappy weather. Tomorrow’s Photo will be better because we are going to Derek and Michelle’s for St. Patrick’s day and we are having a Wii party. Derek got the Wiimote recharging station. I am jealous, and burning through batteries as I blaze through Zelda. But I wonder if I should buy something specialized like that or just get some rechargeable AA batteries.

Photo-A-Day #707 03/16/07

Tonight Allison and I went to Christina’s Cafe in Westborough, Ma to see Christopher Williams. Allison saw that the show was coming up so she found out about getting tickets. Christina’s looks like a nice little restaurant. We sat at a table in the front and could see everything quite well.

Before Christopher played we heard three songs by Sarah Adams and three by Brian Vanderpool. They played together but are not in a band together. Then we heard and Laura Bullock. She was very good and also a good storyteller. I liked her song, The Net Below very much. Look for these three artists to become a Singer Spotlight Artist in the future. Christian Bookstore The Olive Branch was the sponsor for the show. Prior to the show starting Allison and I caught up with Christopher and chatted for a bit. Then he was called away and we settled into our seats. I set up my QuikPod with the tripod leg attachments to try and get some pictures. Even though I was using a tripod and the highest ISO I still got pretty blurry pictures because I didn’t use a flash.

Maybe next time I will bring the Digital SLR camera and get better shots. Although I do like this shot because it was the only time Christopher used the djembe. And that song was Did Not Draw. I love that song especially the sound of the djembe.

Christopher’s wife was not there and we missed seeing and talking with her. I keep meaning to get a picture of us with Christopher, but the night was very nice and it was late for us ‘old folks’ especially since it was a school night.

Christopher’s storytelling is getting better and better. He just returned from Africa with Blood Water Mission. Blood Water Mission was started by the band Jars of Clay and the mission is to build clean water wells for people in Africa. And they are doing this to help reduce the impact of the HIV/Aids pandemic by promoting clean blood and clean water giving the people basic conditions that are necessary for good health. Blood Water Mission is also trying to raise the funds necessary to build 1000 clean water wells in Africa. Photo-A-Day #706 03/15/07

Living in New England you see lots of old cemeteries with rock walls around them. I remember when I was a kid in grade school I was an altar boy and I had to do a funeral at this cemetery. I drive by it almost every day for work. I like to take back roads, just like my Christopher Williams shirt says. I really like how the rock walls and these ancient stones look. This gravestone is from 1853 but the woman buried there was born on February 26, 1767, wow that would have been freaky if I took this picture yesterday.

I pass by things every day on my ride to work that I want to get photos of. This morning I was on Route 9 and the wind was kicking up the snow so the island in the middle of a lake to my left looked really awesome, but I was unable to stop in the middle of Route 9. I swear sometimes the best vantage points to see things are from the car when you are speeding down the road. Then you get to a scenic overlook and it doesn’t look as good as what you just saw but couldn’t photograph.

I had to get dinner ready tonight so instead of the gym I worked out in the Wii gym. Mostly boxing but I did a pretty decent show of baseball too. I did my Wii age and went from 38 to 49. Tennis gets me every time. I was happy to see that Boxing was incorporated into today’s Wii age test. I kicked butt by knocking 24 bags off the chain in 1 minute. Pretty soon I will have to get this shirt. Body by Wii. It was created by Greg Dean of Real Life Comics. He has some great shirts and one was even worn by Adam on Mythbusters in one episode. I think Greg should send some shirts to Cali Lewis so she can wear them on her geekbrief.tv Podcast.
