This week is the American Humane Association’s Be Kind to Animals Week® which runs from May 3-9. Being kind to animals not only means treating them nicely when they are in your home, but making sure that they are safe outside the home. You can visit the Home Again Web Site to get proper permanent identification for your pet. This identification cannot fall off or become impossible to read, and while you do this HomeAgain will donate to the care of shelter animals.

HomeAgain will help support the American Humane Association by donating $1 to bringpetshome.com for every pet that is registered to the program from May 3-9. If you don’t get a chance to enroll your pet you can always go to bringpetshome.com directly because it is a a fundraising Web site specifically created to help shelter animals. This site has a large collection of many popular retailers. A portion from each of the purchases that you make through this web site will go to animal shelters for food and medical care. The site has regular retail prices so there are no additional costs to site visitors.

To protect your pet if they get lost it is beneficial to work with a pet recovery service like HomeAgain. HomeAgain is a comprehensive national pet-recovery service. This service goes beyond microchipping. Members pay an annual subscription fee to have telephone access to specialists in pet-recovery. Members also have 24/7 emergency medical assistance at 1-888-HomeAgain. This program also includes up to $3,000 (less a $50 deductible) in medical pet insurance for lost pets. Be Kind to Animals Week

When my in-laws drove from New Hampshire to Florida they had three cats with them. Traveling with pets is quite the undertaking. Three cats are not the best travel companions but they all made it to their destination without incident. Before they left on the trip there was talk of me driving the car with three cats down to Florida for them. I started to look for Pet Friendly Hotels along the route. I could have saved myself a ton of time if I had used www.officialpethotels.com to do the searching.

Well if you are traveling with a pet then you don’t have to run all over the place looking like I did. You can do all your searching from one location. Nice.

Traveling with Pets

Oliver spent some “kneadiness” time with me. I caught a great shot of his paw extended with the claws out. We’re trying to spend a little time with the boys as the attention will not be on them very soon.

Speaking of the baby we had out second baby class and the video from the class tonight was so old that some of the babies from the video could have been our classmates. And I think that the film was made locally because I a wicked cool in the movie. I did have fun making funny little remarks to Allison as it played.

Today I worked from home and Dad made much progress on the new bathroom. I gave him a hand on a few things that needed to be carried in and out. We carried in the new shower. He’s doing a great job on the room and we are very happy for all the help.

Today I put all of my Photo-A-Day photos on both the Zune and the iPod. I tried doing it the other night and put way too many photos on the devices. So I made a folder and put all the images in the folder. I have a few more comparisons to make between the devices and will put together an extended review of the devices.

PayPerPost is going to send a Postie to CollegeFest. It is in Boston next weekend. I threw my hat in the ring to go and blog the event. Man I hope I get the chance to do it. Anybody want to help campaign for me to go. Drop them a comment on the post about CollegeFest ’07 and let them know I am the right Postie for he job.

Photo-A-Day #888 09/13/07

This week I get to give all you cat lovers photos of my two favorite cats ever. Oliver and Duncan. They Rock! Dapper little kitties in their tuxedos. As different as can be.

This was about the only time we ever saw them together in that thing, it was short lived. Oliver and Duncan were seated perfectly for this photo, it is one of my favorites.

Photo Hunt: Two – 08/18/07

Todays photo is of a baby squirrel in a nest in our backyard. My sister was in the back yard and she shouted up to me for binoculars, I guess there are some squirrels as well as a family of woodpeckers out in the big backyard tree. Both families have made homes in some of the places where branches have snapped off in big wind storms.

Momma squirrel went out to find so food and the two babies kept poking their heads out, that was until I went and tried to get their photos. I slipped the telephoto lens on my camera, I haven’t had much use for it so I’ve had the regular lens on the camera. I am in need of a tripod. The lens is very long and there is some camera shake that would be corrected with a tripod. Well, I ended up getting another shot, this one of the momma squirrel.

I also got a shot of Oliver, who usurped Duncan’s spot from yesterday.

We are a step closer to getting our dining room completed. Dad and I moved out the corner desk and Allison’s old recliner. Now we just need to get rid of the squeaky swivel chair and the old entertainment center. Then I can get the room prepped for painting.
