Spoilers if you didn’t see the show, stop reading NOW!

Lost last night blew me away and that was before the freighter Blew up.

The show started right where Season 3 ended with Jack shouting at a leaving Kate “We have to go back” suddenly we see brakelights and Kate whips the car in reverse and tells Jack on no uncertain terms that she is not ever going back to that island and Jack is in the doghouse for taking off on she and Aaron (Whom I just realized is actually his nephew, geeze I totally didn’t connect that last episode).

There was so much that happened in the two hours of awesome last night that I don’t think I can remember it all (Here is the TV Squad Recap)so I will pose a few questions to you.

Do you think Jin is dead? – For my money he is not dead, he was at the back of the freighter and was most likely blown clear of it in the explosion.

Do you think that we will see Michael again? – I think we will because of Christian Shepard appearing to him before he blew up. He’s most certainly dead however I also think Claire is dead and she died in the rocket blast or even earlier in the show and we see her again. I have a feeling that Michael seeing Christian Shepard (Jacob?) means that he will appear again. But then I just read this TV Squad post about Harold Perrineau not happy about his stint on Lost. And that came from a TV Guide interview. I don’t know, I think it is part true but also part red herring because I think Michael may still have a part to play.

So, who has to go back to the island. Ben says all of us. Well the people who are off island are Ben, Desmond, Frank, Walt, Locke, Jack, Kate, Aaron, Sayid, Sun and Hurley. Does Ben mean only the people who crashed have to go back or does he mean everyone who ever left the island has to go back. That is a puzzler. Also I think Ben is using that so he can get back himself because he said that the person who moves the island can never go back, however he may very well know of a loophole or something.

What were the very bad things that happened after the Oceanic 6 left?

Dharma Rum? Where was that hiding?

Anybody notice this commercial…

That just happens to be the dates of the San Diego Comicon. You can find out more at the website for Octagon Global Recruiting.

Claire is most certainly dead. She appears to Hate and tells her not to bring Aaron back to the island. However she receives a phone call telling her that the island needs her and she must go back. Kate’s Phone call was reversed, you can hear the message as it was supposed to be heard.

Just so many cool things happened in the finale. Sun conspiring with Charles Widemore, Desmond being reunited with Penny, Miles’ revelation that Charlotte had been on the island before and Charlotte looking for where she was born. Great stuff, and Rose getting two seconds of air time to tell Miles that she is watching him.

I was talking with a guy from work about some of the strange things on the island such as the women and babies dying in childbirth. He suspects that that was a manifestation of the thing that tortures Benjamin Linus because his mother Emily died when he was born. And then the smoke monster appearing and Jock Locke drawing that smoke monster way back when he was a boy. Are the worst fears of the Losties what are manifested on the island?

And then we get to the coffin and it is revealed that Locke is in the coffin, using the name Jeremy Bentham. There were two other endings filmed with Desmond or Sawyer in the coffin. I think it makes more sense that it was Locke and I think the other two were again red herrings. But to tell Jack, who already has a God complex, that it was his fault that “very bad things happened” on the island after he left is just wrong. Now Jack will be even more driven to get back to the island.

I’ll be going back and waiting every minute for the return of Lost next season.

This is a recap – so their will be spoilers.

Lost was good but this was a set up episode for the season finale which will be May 29th. It is two hours and will have this episode kicking off the three hour night of LOST.

We start off with the Oceanic 6 coming home. They are headed for a base in Hawaii (convenient since they film the show there). So Jack, Sun, Kate, Hurley, Sayid and Aaron are on the Coast Guard plane. There were a few mentions of luck and rabbits feet in this episode. The co-pilot had one and there was one on the keychain that Hurley’s dad gives him later.

Okay, let me break this down by teams and off island stuff.

Team Jack –
The team on the beach is now deciding what to do wit the phone from the sky. Jack and Kate are going to go find the chopper because Jack is convinced that it was dropped so that they should follow the signal. I didn’t agree with this last week but it looks like I was wrong. So Jack and Kate go after the helicopter. They first listen to the monitor and hear about the Orchid station. Jack tells Kate to get the guns. Daniel has a memory trigger and goes to his notebook, he realizes what is in store so he tells Charlotte that they have to get off the island, now.

Jack and Kate find Miles and Sawyer and Aaron. Sawyer warns Jack about the guys in the chopper, this is where Jack dumps Aaron on Kate and presses on. Of course Sawyer goes with him. They find the helicopter and Frank. But then Sawyer remembers that Hurley is with Ben and Locke and so they have to go save him.

Kate gets back to the beach with Aaron and dumps him on Sun, Sayid is back form the freighter and Daniel has the task of ferrying people to the ship, 6 at a time. Sayid and Kate go after Jack and Sawyer. Eventually they are surrounded by the remaining Others led by Richard Alpert.

So at this point we have Jack and Sawyer on their way to the Orchid to save Hurley, Kate and Sayid are among “The Others” and that brings us to…

Team Locke –
Locke and Ben and Hurley are headed for the Orchid Station. I am really enjoying the interaction between Ben and Hurley “Those crackers are 15 years old”. Ben comes across a cache of supplies including a mirror and binoculars. He uses the mirror to signal someone up on the mountain. They make contact and Ben sends some sort of message, he won’t tell Locke what he said either.

So Ben, Locke and Hurley arrive at the Orchid Station. The Mercs are already there so Ben goes in alone, not before he tells Locke exactly how to get into the true Orchid Station. Ben gives Locke his retractable baton (right, that was what he gave him) and he heads off. He tells Locke that he always has a plan. I hope that plan included getting knocked out by Keamy because that is what happened to Ben.

The Freighter –
On the Freighter Michael has fixed the engines and the freighter can then head towards the island. The problem is that there is a radio signal messing with the radar so they cannot hold the course bearing. Desmond goes looking for the source of the interference and find a wicked freaking huge piles of C4 rigged to destroy the entire freighter. I wonder where that trigger is, Keamy’s arm perhaps?

Sun, Jin, Aaron, Daniel and some random losties make it to the freighter. There Sun and Jin find Michael. They confront him and accuse him of working for Ben. Michael denies it and tells them that he is there to make things right to save everyone.

So now we have the oceanic six all in different places, Sun and Aaron on the Freighter, Hurley with Locke, Jack with Sawyer, Sayid and Kate with “The Others”. We find out how they get rescued in the finale but the things that really are going to be important is who is gonna live and who is gonna die in the finale. What sort of cliff hanger will we get here.

The Oceanic Six.
They are back, they have their story straight. They are going to talk to the press. There is a big press conference in an airplane hanger. Jack gives the base story and each person gets to say something. Kate’s past is brought up, there is a mention at Hurley’s weight.

After the press conference family members are there to greet the Oceanic 6. Hurley’s parents are there and it was good to see Cheech Marin again. Hurley pulls Sayid over to meet them. That was a sweet moment because there was no one for Sayid. Jack’s mother was there and Sun’s parents were as well. Kate had Aaron.

As life gets back to normal for the Oceanic 6 Hurley returns home to whispers and voices. But it isn’t anything supernatural it is an “island” themed party. I am glad that Sayid said something about the theme. At the party we have Sayid and Nadia (Oh yeah, Nadia arrived at the hanger after everyone else had gone). Jack was running late but Kate and Aaron were there. Sun went back to Korea.

Hurley’s father has restored the Camaro and he is giving it to Hurley. Hurley wants nothing to do with the money but since his father rebuilt this on his own he is okay with it, that is until he looks at the odometer. On it are the numbers. Yes the numbers return to the show. Man that is nuts.

In Korea Sun used her substantial settlement money to buy a controlling interest in her father’s company. That was a fantastic part of the episode and she really put him in his place. She blames two people for the death of Jin and her father is one of them. I want to know who the other is.

Jack has a funeral for his father, and in the end Claire’s mother is there to tell him why Christian was in Australia. Jack’s reaction to finding out that Claire was his sister was spot on perfect.

I don’t think I can wait two weeks to see this season wrapped up. There are gonna be so many more questions.

The Orchid is going to be a very interesting place. If you want to know more about it watch this orientation video.

That was freaky. Oh and try and look up Orchid Night Dress from Old Navy, it doesn’t exist.

Here is what TV Squad had to say.

Spoilers – Duh it is a recap.

I don’t know what was better about last night, the lineup of shows (sans Scrubs that sucked, there was one tiny homage to The Princess Bride the rest was a rambling mess) Okay, where was I yes the other good part was Allison texting our friend Mo while we watched our shows and especially during Lost.

This episode was a Locke Centric episode and Locke has a destiny, he has had one from the moment of his miracle birth. The miracle was that he was born at 6 months along after his mother was hit by a car. He was the youngest preemie ever to survive in that hospital. He was a miracle that his mother couldn’t bear to keep. So John was in the foster care system. But throughout his life he had some visits from Richard Alpert (A timeless man who has not aged at all) Richard was there when John was born, as well as when he was about 6 or 7. We learn that John had a tough life growing up. He always wanted to be a rough and tumble guy doing the outdoor thing but his guidance counselor wanted him to be a scientist and we get to hear Locke’s oft repeated line, “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!” We also meet Matthew Abaddon, who has popped up all season when we see the flashback of John in the rehab facility learning to walk.

So John is a born miracle. And later he says that he does not believe in them while there have been at least 4 in his lifetime (his birth, surviving 8 story fall and being able to walk again after surviving a plane crash.) But he doesn’t believe in them. I wonder why the island has chosen him and he accepts the tasks of the island when he is a man of faith who doesn’t believe in miracles. How is that possible? Isn’t that a sort of shift in his overall character. The John Locke of season one surely would have believed in miracles.

During the Flashback John is offered the chance more than once to go to a gifted summer camp, I assume that it was probably something to do with the Darhma Initiative and had John been accepted he would probably be dead right now. We learn a few things about John Locke, that orderly is the one who puts the idea of walkabout in his head. I kept wondering if we would see that knife that John chose as a child appear somewhere later in the episode but no it did not. So Which items were his, I know the compass had to be.

On Island –

Team Locke – Since this was a Locke Centric episode we have much screen time with Locke, Hurley and Ben. They are wandering the woods in search of the cabin. There was a bit of funny stuff between Ben and Hurley, “I was following him” “Dude, I wasn’t even in the lead” There was some good interaction between Hurley and Ben but I hope that Hurley doesn’t get too comfortable with Ben, Ben can commit mass murder and justify it.

The three go to sleep and when Locke Wakes up he meets Horace Goodspeed, I don’t remember him from previous episodes or flashbacks, does anyone else? Horace is building a cabin so he can get away from it all. Those must have been magical trees because that cabin moves around a bit. Horace tells Locke that he has been dead for 12 years and if he (Locke) finds him (Horace) then he will find the cabin. So Locke brings the group to the mass grave. And he starts going through all the bodies until he finds Horace. Once that happens he gets the plans as well as a map to the cabin.

While I don’t think the map would have helped them in the long run because I think the cabin appears when it is needed. There is a subtle manipulation of Hurley as John tells him that he can go back to the beach in the middle of the night. Of Course Hurley isn’t taking off with the smoke monster on the loose. And did you catch John’s disturbed drawings of the smoke monster when he was a child. I bet he had dreams about it and drew those pictures.

The group sticks together and they find the cabin. Neither Ben nor Hurley will go in so it is John alone because the Island choose him. And “Destiny is a fickle bitch” as Ben puts it so John had better be careful what he wishes for. While John is in the cabin Hurley and Ben share an Apollo bar. John enters the cabin and comes face to face with Christian Shepard and Claire. Father and daughter together in the cabin, what about Arron, he is okay and isn’t supposed to be here. John has tons of questions but he isn’t asking the right ones and time is running out John finally asks how he can save the island. The answer that he tells Ben and Hurley, they need to move it.

Here is my theory on the Christian Shepard thing and Claire for that matter. I think Christian is really dead and so is Claire. I can’t point out who and when Claire died but I think she is dead and is now among the spirits. The more I think about Miles and his reaction to her the more I think that she is dead. BTW: Miles and Sawyer were not heard form this episode.

The Freighter –
Keamy and his men return to the freighter. The men offload the wounded man and are helped by the doctor. What? Is this the same doctor that had been floating in the water with his throat slashed last episode? What is going on here. I’m sure it wasn’t a continuity error like having Dr. Kelso still Chief of Medicine in the season finale of Scrubs? Nope, the island has its own set of continuity errors. The doctor is alive and well, for now. Keamy is furious and goes after Michael, he wanted to know how Ben knew all about him. Michael admits that he told Ben. Keamy tried to kill Michael but his gun miraculously jams. Keamy tears around the freighter intimidating everyone including the captain and he takes the captains key so that he can get the secondary mission parameters. And they are to burn the island. Keamy and his team prepare for the raid on the island and they are loaded for bear with all sorts of weapons.

The Captain helps Sayid escape from the freighter, Desmond stays on the Freighter as he spent three years on the island and is not going back. Frank Laupidis helps Michael into the engine room and away from the murderous Keamy.

One of Keamy’s men talks with the doctor about the Morse code that they received about the doctor having his throat slashed. “But I’m the doctor” Oh the foreboding foreshadowing. Keamy orders that Frank fly the team to the island so they can kill everyone there and burn the island down. Frank refuses and to show him that he means business Keamy kills the doctor. Slashes his throat and throws him overboard. The captain shows up to put an end to things but he is also killed by Keamy. Frank takes off but as he is doing his preflight check he does something to one of the satellite phones.

Team Jack –
Jack is up and about after his surgery, and of course he shouldn’t be. There is a sound of the chopper coming back and a bag is tossed out of the window and onto one of the huts. Jack digs through the bag to discover a satellite phone. He assumes that it was sent to them so that they would follow the chopper. Really? Jack, really? That is not too smart. I would think that it would be tuned to Keamy’s frequency so they knew when he was coming and could hide or get away or something. But the beach team still doesn’t know about Keamy because the absent Sawyer and Miles and Aaron haven’t made it back to the beach.

The time shifting is getting hard to follow, but makes for some cool things in the show. Next Week we see the Oceanic six make their debut. Then we have a week of no lost (which sucks but I won’t be home that week so it is good that we (Allison and I and Mo via text) can have 3 hours of lost on the 29th. This time I won’t make Cajun (burnt) popcorn.

What did TV Squad Say?

And what did Connect with your Teens through Pop Culture and Technology have to say (I’ve been reading this blog too and like it)

Also it looks like the writer’s strike is not going to effect lost too much. Two extra hours have been added, one each of the two next seasons. And with the extra hour this season we should get the full story.

Okay this is a recap, so if you haven’t seen the episode, please don’t read further because their will be spoilers.

This was the Jack Centric episode of the season. So we will cover Team Jack 1st:

Jack awakes to all that is not well on the island as Bernard is having it out with Charlotte and Daniel. He is angry and wants answers. Bernard is quickly becoming a very go to guys and not just a mild mannered dentist. His Morse code skills last week were quite handy and his crack shot with a rifle was crucial to last year’s final episodes.

Jack calms everyone down and then collapses. He has appendicitis. I hadn’t thought about this until Rose and Bernard were talking but on the island people get well, not sick. So why was Jack getting sick? I don’t trust this sickness either. Maybe watching this show has made me more critical and skeptical of the plot but I have this weird thought going through my head that something was implanted in Jack to simulate appendicitis. Or maybe something was implanted by Juliette during the procedure. I just can’t stop a nagging feeling like that.

Juliette needs supplies and sends Sun to the Staff station to get them, but Sun has no clue what to look for but Daniel does and he offers to go with her, Jin steps in and he is going too and so is Charlotte. Jack gives Jin a gun to take with him. We noticed in this little trip that Charlotte can speak Korean and that Daniel has a crush on Charlotte, uh duh! Anyway, Jin confronts Charlotte on this and makes her swear to take Sun with her on the helicopter to get her off the island. He has no plans for himself getting off.

Jack’s surgery goes well but Jack, the stubborn bastard that he is insists on being awake and on having Kate in the room with them holding a mirror. That is short lived as the pain is too much and Bernard knocks Jack out. Mr. God complex has to let someone else take charge for a while. And after the surgery Juliette confesses to Kate that Jack kissed her at the Tempest. But that he did it to prove to himself that he didn’t love Kate. I think he proved himself wrong on that one. Then Juliette tells Jack that she knows he is awake.

The Sawyer Bunch

Sawyer, Miles, Claire and Aaron are trekking through the jungle to the beach. Along the way they come across the shallow graves of Rousseau and Karl. Miles felt their deaths. He and Claire have a little bonding moment as Claire confesses to Miles that she shes things too, or has been doing so lately. Sawyer doesn’t trust Miles and doesn’t want him looking anywhere near Claire so he issues a restraining order.

While in the jungle Frank Lapidus comes flying out of the jungle at a run and tells the group that Keamy and his men are coming and they will kill everyone they find. The group hides and Frank steers Keamy away from everyone and he even covers for a cry from Aaron. Apparently that monster isn’t that efficient only one of the mercenaries was hurt. Also in the middleof the night the group is visited by Christian Shepard. He is holding Aaron. Claire goes to him and leaves with him in the middle of the night. When Sawyer wakes up he looks for Claire and asks Miles why he didn’t stop her. Miles in a very Sawyer way says that he had a restraining order so he couldn’t do anything about it. Sawyer chases into the woords calling for Claire but only finds Aaron.

Team Locke – No mention nor information about them this episode, but wait till next week. Next week I believe we meet Jacob.

Flash Forward – Jack

It looks like things are working out very well for Jack. He is living with Kate and Aaron and making a go at being a daddy, he even proposes to Kate. Then he screws it all up by being jealous and paranoid. Oh and he starts his downward spiral of abusing drugs and alcohol in this episode. I knew this would the episode for it.

These are mostly observations of the flash forward.

Hurley is becoming more and more crazy and is off his meds. He talks with Charlie every day and now Charlie has a message for Jack: “You’re not supposed to raise him.”. Jack is completely upset with this and shaken up. He leaves and stares at the place where Charlie visits Hurley hoping to catch a glimpse. Also Jack is going to be visited by someone as well.

Jack’s visitor is his father, Christina Shepard, but we don’t see him for very long. He appears 3 times in this episode too.

Jack reads to Aaron from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, a book that his father read to him.

Oh there is still a love triangle between Jack and Kate and Sawyer. Sawyer asked Kate to do something for him when she got home. Kate was on the phone with a mysterious caller and lied to Jack. Later Jack becomes paranoid (probably form the drugs he started taking and partly because of his personality) and found out that Kate keeping a promise to Sawyer. In Jack’s mind, because Sawyer stayed behind it didn’t matter what he asked her to do. Jack was the one who was there, not Sawyer.

So Claire goes off into the jungle. Miles can sense the dead, he also offers to take Aaron and carry him many times. Does Miles sense something? Hmmm…
