Chalk, Walk, Good Talk

Photo-A-Day #1917

Allison and I are big TV fans, we spend many nights watching TV as I write my blog posts. We are fans of all sorts of shows and the DVR is a magical device in our home. It is great for keeping some of Eva’s favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse shows and we use it to capture our favorite shows and specials that we’d love to watch again. Sometimes we get behind on the shows and have a little DVR cleaning night where we clear out everything.

Right now we watch Castle, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, The Middle, Cougar Town, Flash Forward (cancelled), Persons Unknown, Leverage, Burn Notice, Memphis Beat, Warehouse 13, Rescue Me, Burn Notice, Psych, White Collar, Lost (ended), Community, The Office, Chuck, Smallville, Heroes (cancelled), Bones, and Human Target. Yeah we watch quite a few shows. But it still works out to be about 2 hours a night because of the DVR. Spreading it out over the nights when there are shows we don’t like makes it easy to avoid hours of sitting there just watching TV. Allison and I used to write up a he said, she said post about the shows we watched, then I found TV Squad and liked how much they covered my favorite shows. Maybe I’ll do an occasional review from time to time.

I guess TV is on my mind because while we enjoy watching many different shows we are also trying to limit the overall time that Eva is watching TV. For me the hardest day of the week is on Thursday when I work from home. Trying to get work done while Eva wants to play is tough so we end up up watching either Disney Channel or PBSKids. If she is good she can watch a movie. I still try and limit that time and give Eva the crayons or markers and let her go to it. She does well doing imaginative play so I intersperse TV time and quiet play time.

After work today Allison, Eva and I went for a nice long walk. There was a break in the mugginess but not the heat so it was a good walk. We caught up with our friends Kate and John and their daughter. Unfortunately, Eva was a asleep and didn’t get much time to play. She finally woke up and got to play for a few minutes before we left for home. It was good to get Eva out of the house for the walk even if she did fall asleep 5 minutes in. A nap is always good as well.

When we got home Eva went and played chalk with Auntie Tara. She loves playing chalk but more so she loves it when you play chalk and she watches.

As far as a talk I had two good ones over the past two days. Yesterday was the call with Kim Ann Curtin but today was with Suzanne Gerety regarding working on EdGerety.com and Edgeretyblog.com We’ve got some big things coming from that site. I’m very excited about these projects. Sometimes a good talk can help revive the excitement.

  1. LOL.. at first glance I thought it was a giant dumpster full of huge chalk sticks. Great picture perspective to achieve that at first glance!

    1. Aaron,
That is pretty funny, I didn’t see it that way until you pointed it out. Great observation.

  2. “Sometimes a good talk can help revive the excitement”..thats right Ben, by the way, good talk can also be shown as a clever person i think

    1. Tata,

Good talk can also be shown as a clever person, I’m not sure I am understanding the meaning of that. Do you mean that a clever person is someone who is a good talker or when someone turns a phrase they are clever and a good talker. Either way, I thank you for the insightful comment.
