Disney Trip

I’m Headed to California to Hang with Christopher, Ralph and Thanos

Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh

In a week’s time I will be on a plane headed to California for a rather interesting trip. I am headed out for another Disney Press trip but this time it is not focused on a Marvel movie. However, I will be talking to some folks from Marvel about the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray release. It is not primarily focused on an animated movie. Although, I will be meeting with people at Disney Animation Studios about Ralph Breaks the Internet, the follow up to Wreck-It Ralph, one of my favorite movies ever. No, this time I am headed out to see a Disney Live-Action movie that looks like it will be one of the most adorable ones of the Summer. I’m headed out to see Christopher Robin. I’ll be seeing the movie, not once but twice!

I’ve read the Winnie the Pooh Books and grew up watching the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. When Eva was born so many things that we received at the shower were Winnie the Pooh related. Allison is a big fan of Winnie the Pooh and she’s quite jealous that I am going, but I think that is more so because I am going to get to interview Hayley Atwell! She plays Evelyn Robin, Christopher’s wife but we know her more for playing Agent Peggy Carter. Telling Allison that I was going to meet her almost landed me on the couch for the foreseeable future.

Jim Cummings

While I am excited to meet Hayley Atwell and Ewan McGregor, I’m really going to fanboy over Jim Cummings. Who is that you say? He is the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, too! Jim has been the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger for forty years!! He’s also been in so many cartoons from my childhood and I’m so excited to meet him!

Like any of these trips there will be a ton of surprises and so much work to be done while we are there as well as when we return. We’ll be meeting so many people who are working on Ralph Breaks the Internet, interviewing many folks involved in Christopher Robin and also walking the Red Carpet for the movie. On this trip is something I’ve never done before. I’ll be visiting Madame Tussauds Hollywood for a very special Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War showcase plus an interview with Executive Producer Trinh Tran and a chance to make my very own wax Infinity Gauntlet! Making wax hands was a thing that I did in college and I’m curious as to how a wax gauntlet is going to be made.

I’ll be on this trip with 24 other bloggers including a couple of my fellow guy bloggers. We met up with each other during Sweet Suite a couple of weeks ago.

You should see what I got to wear this time around. I had a crazy shirt for Thor but this time I am going with something a bit understated. I think you are gonna love it!

Before the Red Carpet we will be attending a pre-party. Then we will see the Christopher Robin movie again, but this time with the cast of the movie. We’ll then head back to the hotel to get a good night’s sleep before our last adventure day.

On Our Last Day It Is The #RalphBreaksTheInternetEvent

Ralph Breaks The Internet

I have watched Wreck-It Ralph about 15 times now. For a couple of months I went and watched the movie every Friday with Andrew. He loved it and I found that I could nod off once in a while and hop right back into the movie. I’ll make sure to watch it again before heading to this trip. I cannot wait to see what I see of the movie. It won’t be the whole movie but a few segments and then meeting with the creators of the movie.

Ralph Breaks The Internet Trailer

We will be heading to the Disney Animation Studios building to meet with everyone involved in Ralph Breaks the Internet. We will first see some footage and it will be introduced by Director Rich Moore, Director/Writer Phil Johnston and Producer Clark Spencer. After that we will have additional presentations talking about various parts of creating the Internet inside the Wreck-It Ralph world. Here are some of those meetings.

  • THE WEB’S WIDE WORLD – Matthias Lechner (Art Director, environments), Larry Wu (Head of Environments) and Ernie Petti (Technical Supervisor) talk about the daunting task of turning the abstract concept of the internet into a complex, thriving metropolis

  • POPULATING THE INTERNET – Cory Loftis (Production Designer), Dave Komorowski (Head of Characters and Technical Animation), Renato dos Anjos (Head of Animation) and Moe El-Ali (Crowds’ Supervisor) explore the process of creating the inhabitants of the internet, from the “Netizens” to the “Net Users”

  • STORY DOWNLOAD – Josie Trinidad (Head of Story), Jason Hand (Story Artist) and Natalie Nourigat (Story Artist), explain the unique roles that the story team played not only in developing a new adventure for Ralph and Vanellope, but also in envisioning the ever-evolving world of the internet

  • OH MY DISNEY DOT COM – The “Oh My Disney” sequence has been a part of the story since the first script and story reels. Co-writer Pamela Ribon discusses the inspiration for the scene, and Ami Thompson (Art Director, characters) and Kira Lehtomaki (Head of Animation) present the work that went into bringing these beloved characters into the world of the internet

And after all that I’ll be heading home on a Red-Eye. What an action packed couple of days! Here are a bunch of links that you can follow for more information on Christopher Robin, Avengers: Infinity War and Ralph Breaks The Internet.
