Creativity with Painting Lulu

Photo-A-Day #3605

When I was at Toy Fair I received a couple of copies of the Painting Lulu coloring book complete with Digital Crayon. I learned about this app on my last day at the show. What Painting Lulu does is that it allows kids to start a creation in a coloring book and then scan that page into the Painting Lulu App to continue working on it. The app works on iOS and Android. We loaded the free app onto Eva’s Tablet, My Phone and the iPad Air. While there are a few quirks to the overall app it is still pretty decent and the kids had fun.

Excited to start Painting Lulu

The coloring books are made from recycled paper. They have many fun original characters inside. At the show I learned that there will soon be some licensed books featuring Hot Wheels and Barbie. There are many nice features to the app. Kids can choose from crayons, markers, and paint brushes. They can color in any of the pages from many of the Painting Lulu coloring books or even take their own photos to color in as well.

Coloring the Painting Lulu Coloring Book

The Digital Crayon fits nicely in a child’s hand and works very much like a crayon. The feel of the digital crayon on the screen is similar in resistance to crayon on paper.

Coloring on the Painting Lulu App

With the app, kids can make their creation and then automatically e-mail it to their parents to see. Parents create an account and set the specific e-mail to be used. then when their child is done coloring they just share it and it automatically is sent.
