Gecko Hunt

Today Allison and I took a nice long walk with Eva and during the walk I hunted Geckos. Whoa, wait a minute, I am not cruel, I’m a photographer so my shooting geckos was with my camera only. I found 17 different ones that were great for photographing. I couldn’t believe how many different ones I found and how many different colors I was seeing. There were light brown and light grey ones that were in trees, even an orange one was blending on some wood chips but popped when it was on a black plastic pipe. I love photographing these Geckos.

I used my Sigma 70-300mm Macro lens on the Macro setting. This allowed me to get nice tight shots of each gecko without getting close enough to disturb them. Sometimes I am not happy with the lens because I usually have to use a tripod to keep it very steady. I do want one that is smaller and can get closer however this worked very well in this situation. So I hope you enjoy my little hunt for cool little geckos all over the neighborhood.

  1. Thanks very much Krissy, they are some of my favorite things to photograph. I don’t think the tripod would have been helpful in this situation because the geckos would have run off before I was able to set it up. So I was pretty lucky.
