Graphic Novel Review & Giveaway: Finding Gossamyr

Finding Gossamyr

So, I was on Twitter the other day and I tweeted to Kari Wahlgren who voices many fun characters from cartoons and she is Tessa from Skylanders. We went back and forth a bit and David A. Rodriguez the writer for Skylanders Swap Force jumped in. We then tweeted a bit and he asked me if I’d like to review his Graphic Novel, Finding Gossamyr. I said sure and he sent me three copies, one to review and keep and two to give away.

The story revolves around Denny and Jenna a brother and sister who accidentally embark on an exciting and dangerous adventure. Denny is brilliant and if a math problem is put in front of him he has to solve it. Jenna is his older sister and caretaker because Denny is difficult and particular and their parents gave up on him. The job of looking after Denny has fallen to Jenna.

As the book opens Jenna is attempting to get Denny into a gifted mathematical program that would take care of their housing and expenses. Denny is working on an unsolvable formula and when he solves it strange things happen.

Finding Gossamyr is well written and a beautiful book to read. In a world where math is magic, science and medicine all rolled into one. It is an artificial world created in between the seven worlds. There is quite a lot of backstory and the graphic novel lays everything out along with an appendix at the end of the book. I found the story to be compelling and entertaining. It is an all ages book with a rating for ages 8-12. There are interesting characters, amazing places and creatures. I was entertained by the book and am excited to share it with more readers.

I have two copies of the book to give away, this is a hard cover book, Finding Gossamyr: Volume One. To participate please use the Rafflecopter App below. The contest is open to people residing in the US only (shipping costs and all).

  1. One of my recent favorite comic book series is ‘Locke & Key.’ The series is written by Joe Hill, illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez and published by IDW Publishing. Also my 9yr old son is a big fans of ‘Finding Gossamyr’. He rented chapters 1-3 from our local library. It would be great to own a copy of the collected volume one 😉 Thanks for hosting this contest! -B

  2. I used to read a lot of comic books in my teens. But know i can’t find any time for such type of stuff…….but i still love those days.
