Happy Elf

Happy Elf

Eva went with momma to the mall to the Bare Essentials store so momma could get her Christmas gift to herself, or from me, not sure. When she came home she handed me a small bag and said she’d give me the receipt tomorrow so we could enjoy our night tonight.

Tonight we went to the Loren and Wally Comedy event at Foxboro Showcase Live at Patriot Place. The event was a fundraiser for Camp Harborview in Boston. Loren and Wally are the morning guys on WROR 105.7 in Boston. I had been listening to them each morning on the way to work because unlike other morning shows I enjoy these guys and they also play classic rock. But come November the format switched to “Boston’s Best Christmas Song” What! In November! Forget that, I went back to the local country station.

The Showcase Live venue was a decent one but the event was oversold and we were lucky to get seats. We did get seats and it was decent after all. The roster consisted of Tony V., Kelly McFarland, Rich Siesler, and then The Kevin Connolly Band, Tom Doyle did some townie toons and then after that Lenny Clarke took the stage and rocked it. The show ended with Kevin Meaney.

Kevin’s set ended strong but it was punctuated with so many moments of uncomfortable silence that it wasn’t the best set for me. But we had a good night none-the-less.

Before the show we had a great meal at Portabella’s downtown. It is a very nice Italian restaurant that has been around for a year or so now. This was our first time there too. Tonight was our celebration to ourselves for our 3rd anniversary.

  1. Happy Anniversary! Sounds like a fun night for the two of you. And how can I not comment on Eva. She is as always, the picture of sweetness.

  2. I am giggling at your first paragraph. I heard that a BE store opened up near us, now I have to go there and buy my presents from Mike there, yanno? And then hide the receipt until after we go on our Christmas trip to Old Sturbridge Village…LOL!

I enjoy WROR, too, but I had to turn it off when they started playing Christmas music all the time, since the beginning of November. I miss my Loren & Wally, but I can’t take the Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I’m glad to know that yet another person agrees with me on this.

Sounds like it was a fun show. I love the townie tunes, we can’t drive past the Golden Banana (just a few miles north of us) without me singing, “here at the Golden, Golden Banana, the place where you can’t bring your Nana”…LOL!

    Christines last blog post..Bored

  3. Connie,
Thanks very much. I had taken a camera and my XShot 2.0 with me to the show to hopefully get a picture with one of the comedians or Loren and Wally but didn’t happen, thanks goodness I took the camera out with Eva earlier in the night.

  4. Mo,
I had totally forgotten that he was on the bill. It was a great surprise for both of us. And yeah, Eva is one sweetie in her little hat.

  5. Christine,
It was a good crowd there last night. the comedians were Boston ones so they had the crowd int he palms of their hands, except for Kevin Meaney he was all over the place, if he had stuck to songs and a little comedy he would have been great. Other than the venue being oversold and having to stand int eh cold with a bunch of people bitching about the cold it was a great.
