I noticed these bees wasps around some of the flowers in the front yard. I saw the black and blue (Ichneumon Wasp) one last year but this yellow and orange one (Vespid Wasp) is new. After dinner I got my tripod and played with the macro lens to get these shots.

Your insects pictured are actually wasps, not bees.
The blue and black one is an Ichneumon Wasp while the orange and yellow is a Vespid Wasp.
Great photos no matter what you call them :)

Margaret,
Thanks very much for setting me straight on the wasps. I will update my tags and post. I appreciate the help. Glad you like the photos and thanks.
Thanks Chica,
These wasps are pretty colorful.
Nice bug photos. I know how hard it is to capture a bug on camera. They don’t sit still for very long. But find that’s what makes it so much fun to shoot them. first you have to find them then you have to be fast!
michelle’s last blog post..Second shotz#5 Edit
Michelle,
No they do not stay still, especially the flying ones. However if you have a tripod and can move it quickly and easily you should be able to get some nice steady shots.
Those are gorgeous. The level of detail is simply amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Cabe.
These pics make me want to spend some time in my yard with my camera!
Thanks Britt,
That would be a great idea. Let me know what you capture.
