Rainy Day Coloring Time with The Lion King and Crayola

Photo-A-Day #2356

This first part isn’t a sponsored post for Crayola or anything (Although I would LOVE to do some testing of their awesome line of products). I do have some content below related to The Lion King movie but today’s photo was an “all me” sort of thing. While at the Cape this weekend I picked up a couple of Crayola Giant Coloring pages sets, one for The Lion King and one for Marvel Super Hero Squad. If you bought one of the coloring pads you got a coupon for $1.00 off a 96 count box of crayola crayons. I don’t know about you but a fresh box of Crayola crayons has to be just about the best thing ever.

A few years back I did a little “Use Every Crayon in the Box” experiment where I gave myself 1 minute per crayon with a box of 64. I took out the eight most well known colors, the standard set of Black, Brown, Blue, Purple, Orange, Red, Yellow and Green. I set those aside because those become crutch colors. I wanted to do something really special and create without thinking. Well, I did the experiment again, this time not as rigid, I spent a minute or so per crayon but didn’t time myself or anything. I save the standard set of colors for the end but really wanted to see what I could do with the entire box. There is such a wide variety of colors and I just went crazy with them. Inside a set of 96 crayons there are 6 individual boxes of 16 colors. I used three of those boxes and could have been finished with the page. But I kept on and incorporated each and every color in the box, metallic, pop art, you name it I used it.

Eva and Allison also did a picture. Allison meticulously looked for the exact colors needed to color Zazu. Eva was content to color Simba and Nala with Metallic green and purple. We had a nice afternoon coloring together. We choose to do this today because it was rainy and because tomorrow we are taking Eva to see The Lion King for the first time ever. We are so excited and we’re going to go see it in 3D too.

To get you excited about The Lion King (This is the public relations part fo the post) I have some cool The Lion King things to share with you. A Lion King premiere slideshow.
