My Little Pony Equestria Girls on Blu-RayLast month Eva and I went to see the My Little Pony Equestria Girls movie at the movie theater. We received the movie in a Blu-ray combo pack that included the movie on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy. We received that to watch and review. So, today it was rainy in the morning so we watched the movie as a family. Andrew wasn’t as in to it but Eva was excited to see it once again. Opinions of the product are our 100% honest ones.

The fun thing about having the movie on Blu-ray was that I could finally see what Derpy Hooves looks like in human form. She appears dancing at the very end of the movie credits. I did not know that at the time when we saw the movie in the theater. The other nice thing is that the there are some decent bonus features included on the DVD including:

  • Through The Mirror Of Equestria Girls:
Three featurettes about the movie from the look to the music.
  • 2 Karaoke Songs
  • Pony-fy Yourself
  • Printable Movie Poster

I enjoyed the three featurettes because they discussed how the movie was created and the art styles used as well as the choices for music. It was good insight into what went into creating this movie. The featurette even had Tara Strong, voice of Twilight Sparkle discussing the movie.

If you are unfamiliar with the story then here’s a quick peek at the trailer for the movie.

The story is that Twilight Sparkle is attending a princess summit in the Crystal Empire and she’s not feeling too sure of herself in her new role as a princess. The crown isn’t sitting well and she’s not used to her new wings, either. She goes to bed the night before the summit and her crown is stolen by a pony called Sunset Shimmer. Very similar names and looks to these two ponies. Twilight and her dragon Spike follow Sunset shimmer into an alternate world where Twilight becomes a high school girl.

The movie is filled with the humor and storytelling style that you have come to expect from the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic cartoon. It is fun seeing the human versions of all the ponies from Canterlot and Ponyville. I am eager to find out if the events of this movie will have any lasting effects on season four of the show, namely a pony called Flash Sentry. Time will tell. And speaking of time you can spend your time between seasons 3 and 4 by picking up My Little Pony Equestria girls on Blu-ray or DVD on August 6th.
