Real Steel Blu-Ray & DVD

Review: Real Steel DVD and Blu-Ray

Real Steel Blu-Ray & DVDBack in the summer I got the chance to see the movie Real Steel in a sneak preview. I was very impressed with this movie. It had elements of Rocky, Over The Top, Transformers and The Champ combined. The movie comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday January 24th. The movie is the story of Charlie Kenton (Hugh Jackman) who was a professional boxer before the sport became dominated by robots because the audience demanded more and more action. Robots could deal out a tremendous amount of damage on each other that humans could not compete with. So now Charlie is boxing robots (using a sophisticated remote control), lives out of a truck and is a bit of a dirtbag. A loveable dirtbag but a dirtbag none the less. Charlie lies, cheats, steals.

Charlie’s world is turned upside down when his ex-wife dies and he is reconnected with his son. Charlie does not change his ways but rather he takes Max along with him to the seedy underground of unsanctioned robot fights. Luckily Max is pretty smart and he finds an old sparring robot, he makes a connection with the robot and fixes it up enough to begin having it fight.

Even though the robots are a huge part of the story they are a backdrop to a father/son story, personal redemption story and there is some boxing robots in the mix as well. The movie is a lot of fun and is filled with some great action.

The Blu-Ray has even more fun features to expand out the story. There is even a SECOND SCREEN that you can watch on your tablet device while enjoying the movie.

After the jump I have some exclusive videos about the movie as well as the official press release. But before you go there check out this slideshow of great photos from the movie.
