Fortunate BluFrog Wisdom – Daily Fortune Cookie

The best profit of future is the past
“The best profit of future is the past”

A new feature for BenSpark.com is the Fortunate BluFrog wisdom of the day.

History

One day I brought a fortune cookie to work and ate it with my lunch. I opened it and it said “Be on the Alert for New Opportunities” I placed the fortune in front of my can of BluFrog Wildly Healthy Energy Drink and shot off a picture to twitpic and utterli. I said in the caption, “is this a sign?” Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t but from there an idea was born. The FortunateBluFrog post came into being.

Later in the week I brought another fortune cookies to work and again shot a picture of it in front of my can of BluFrog. That fortune said, “If you are never scared, embarrassed or hurt, it means you never take chances.” I began to think about the fortune cookie as a means to a daily post.

What wisdom could be garnered from this cryptic cookie?

A simple message in a fortune can spark the imagination in many different ways. Each person interprets the fortunes themselves and many people put the obligatory and sometimes hilarious “in bed” at the end of the fortune. Some even put “in bed naked and screaming, laughing, etc” at the end of their fortunes. But I digress. I think that the wisdom from a simple fortune cookie can be interpreted to be more beneficial than half the things that so called online experts are telling you. So I will break open a fortune cookie each day and share with you the wisdom I find inside. I bought myself 3 dozen fortune cookies last night. But if you want to help continue the fortune cookie trend you can always order me a container from my Amazon Wish List.

Why Fortunate BluFrog

In BluFrog I have found a very incredible drink. I’ve had quite a few cans over the past couple of weeks and I have to say that on the days I drink BluFrog I am more awake, alert and focused. On the off days I go back to being sleepy, bored and distracted. I’ve been weighing the pros and cons of becoming a distributor of BluFrog as well. If we do so our domain name for our BluFrog blog will be FortunateBluFrog.com. Fortunate because of the fortune cookie thing as well as our being fortunate enough to have a wonderful life.

By earning money with BluFrog we will be able to give more back to those who are less fortunate. We will do this by earning money to free ourselves from credit card debt which in turn will provide us with more take home income. We’ve always said that we’ve wanted to contribute more, but it is hard to do when every paycheck goes towards bills and debt. However, we still consider ourselves fortunate.

You might recall this past Christmas when we were involved in the Sears Grant a Wish program. That made us decide to put away $10 a month towards our own $100 donation to Christmas is for Kids. At that time we also decided to put away $10 a month for Heifer International for Eva’s Farm. The Limu Company (parent of BluFrog) is big on giving back, so is IZEA and so is Market Leverage. Our family does what we can but we’d love to be able to do more, so that means additional income. This brings us back to today’s fortune.

“The best profit of future is the past”

I interpret today’s fortune to mean that a solid foundation will bolster your future efforts. Therefore the past and everything you’ve done in the past, good and bad is what will determine your progress in the future. Profit actually means “to make progress”, in Latin. You can certainly interpret profit to mean money but you can also interpret it to mean to make progress. So, I would say the best way to make progress in the future is rooted in what you have done in the past. If you have worked hard to build an audience for your blog, been respectful and engaging to that audience then it stands to reason that you will continue to improve in the future. If you have been neglectful of your audience and have been someone who does not contribute to the conversation but rather spews forth your own garbage with no regards to the actual conversation then it stands to reason that you will not make progress in the future. The future holds profit for those who have built a solid foundation of engagement, respect and transparency.

How do you interpret today’s fortune? Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

You’ve done a great job engaging your audience. I slack that a lot of the time because I simply don’t have the time, lame excuse I know lol. You’ve got a lot of blogs and thing going for you right now, and I don’t know that stretching yourself to yet another thing would be the best thing. I know when I stretch myself to far online, I start to lack in areas, that I would rather not be lacking in ya know? Whatever you do though you’ll succeed at.

As for the fortune cookie this time, for some reason I immediately wanted to change it to “the best profit of the past is our future”

My friend Greg Cherone ( yes, the brother of the guy who sings, that sappy ” More than Words” song) releases all of his Cd’s and donates a portion of the proceeds to a non-profit.

That fortune confuses me, but I think the whole daily fortune thing sounds good. I just want some fortune cookies now, because they taste good.

Drew, you are very fortunate and have definetly build a good foundation for yourself. Concentrate on your beautiful daughter and your health first. That will strengthen your fountation for future endevowers. Good Luck!

  5. Drew says:

    Chica,
Yes I have been stretching myself very thin online. You might notice that this is pretty much the only blog I still update. However I set up my domain Imnotafamousblogger.com to point here, now I just have to get it to point to my about page. The wired Kayaker will also be incorporated into this blog and as Allison and I discussed last night It’s better to have the domain name and not use it than miss an opportunity for a decent name.

I like your interpretation of the fortune.

  6. Drew says:

    Lenny,

Some good ideas there. I think I need to get a few people there 1st and really get the word out through social media in order to get this to work. However, as things progress I am willing to look at a charity angle of course.

I loved that band, Exteme! Still have their tapes I think.

  7. Drew says:

    Anna,
Fortune cookies do taste very good and it is okay if the fortune confuses you since they are all so vague. It i s up to your own interpretation.

  8. Drew says:

    Dad,
Good sound grounded advice. And people wonder where I get that from. Now you know. Thanks Dad. The morning workouts have been helping. I hope I didn’t wake anyone up when my jet engine took off this morning. I have to get th muffler fixed tomorrow.

  9. MLDina says:

Thanks for the mention- maybe we can come up with a Blogger Give Back promotion. I’ve actually never tried BluFrog. I haven’t found an energy drink I like the taste of yet, might have to give it a shot!

  10. Drew says:

    Dina,
I think we are on the same wavelength here. A Blogger Give back promotion sounds great, and if I become a distributor I’ll send you a pack of BluFrog. It is really tasty. I didn’t get it right at first but by can number two a couple of days later it was something I really enjoyed.

  11. Karen says:

I think you are on a good path. You try to be giving and focus on your family. It can be hard to find a balance. Kudos.

  12. Drew says:

    Karen,
Thanks very much, I appreciate that. I am trying very hard to focus on my family and what is best for us. Luckily I have had some great teachers over the year and a wonderful partner in Allison. Also we are both pretty lucky to have a kid as special as Eva.

Each day is a quest for balance. I keep working on it.

  13. Laurie says:

Ooooh! I missed that you are doing a fortune cookie feature, but my husband drug me to Chinese today and I got a fortune I had to share on my blog today too.

Maybe yours is saying that some of the best things in the future are made of things you’ve done in the past? Than again, maybe I’m missing the boat.

    Lauries last blog post..Good Fortune?

  14. Drew says:

    Laurie,
I just started this feature and this was the 1st one, I just posted #2.

There is no missing the boat, every fortune has it’s own interpretations.

  15. Boks says:

Drew, firstly of all you have very nice blog. i like it. I think that healty is very important, so all people should make sport.

  16. Drew says:

    Hi Boks,
Thanks for the compliments. I’m having a bit of difficulty understanding your comment but I beleive it is sincere. I think you mean that everyone should be active to maintain a healthy life. That is good advice.
