The Island Queen!!!

Photo-A-Day #1934

Today was another day of wonderful weather on the Cape. Oh how I miss that ocean breeze when I have to come home. Two days on the beach is just a great way to not only recharge but also to make you miss it so much when you commute back to the cube on Monday morning. But before that drudgery we had a great weekend.

During the weekend I was finally able to finish the latest Wired Kayaker video. This one was the 3rd annual Roger Williams Paddle. We had a great paddle and I hope you can see how much fun it was from the footage in the video. I am so grateful to Kodak and XShot for the gear that they hooked me up with. Check the video for how well the equipment worked. I’m impressed with how it worked. I love the new rig and can’t wait to go out again and paddle more with it.

Grandfather made us another delicious breakfast and then we went to the beach for a picnic lunch. Eva has this thing about rocks and seashells. She wants to go out looking for them the whole time she is at the beach. So, I sat at the water’s edge and picked up one or two rocks and gave them to her, she would take them and then rush back up to her big bucket and “wash” them. She collects a ton of rocks during each trip but at the end of the day we let her choose 1 or 2 of them to bring home for her collection.

The water felt so good. I could float around in it for hours, Eva’s not too much of a fan. She wants to go back to the beach much of the time that she is in the water. However if I move her through the water from side to side real fast she starts to laugh and she also loves getting thrown up in the air. this weekend she even stood on our shoulders and jumped off, or rather feel forward. Allison would hoist her up and she would jump to me and then we’d reverse.

We came home from the beach and tried to get Eva to sleep but that didn’t work, she just stayed up. I started the Kayaking Video to upload and we went off to the Falmouth Raw Bar to visit Aunt Shelby.

The Falmouth Raw Bar is a restaurant/bar right at the Falmouth Harbor. While we were there we saw the Island Queen come in and dock and then go back on out. While we were there Shelby brought us out something special… Fried Pickles. Shelby and I are both fans of Fried Pickles and I told her that the next time that I went to the Raw Bar I was going to take a jar with me and ask if they’d fry ’em up for me. Shelby had the same idea and she got a huge jar from BJs and she used the last of them for us. They made a dipping sauce from ranch and frank’s red hot sauce. It was good but runny. I think that Fry Sauce would be a good choice for dipping sauce, at least my version would be good, Mayo, Ketchup, Pickle Juice and Red Robin Seasoning.

We had a nice meal and then headed home. Allison drove so that I could work on my to do list on my iPad. I have a lot of to do going on. This is going to be one busy week. And it started with a recording of Geek Dad’s Weekly tonight. Daniel and I are now recording Sunday night’s at 8:00pm. I like the change of day and time, it works great for me. We had a good conversation tonight and I am looking forward to more.

Oh and I almost forgot something so cute. Aunt Tara gave Eva a guitar, a real guitar. Eva was over the moon and loves it so much. It will stay at the Cape for the summer at least but Eva immediately took to it. Check out this video tribute to Ellis Paul.
