Altered Carbon

The Top 10 Things on Netflix in 2018 #StreamTeam

Altered Carbon

Get ready to binge watch Netflix because if 2017 is any indication, 2018 is going to be a pretty incredible year from Netflix. Now, I do not know everything that is going to be on Netflix in 2018, new series, specials and movies are being announced all the time. But, because I am a Netflix Stream Team member I have access to see some of the things that are coming earlier than most. For 2018 Netflix has asked the Stream Team members to talk about what they are most looking forward to in 2018. I figured that I’d give a Top 10 list of what I am looking forward to. This past year I binged so many different series and shows that the first two items on the list that I am looking forward to are second seasons of shows that I really enjoyed.

  1. Ozark Season 2 – It took me a while before I gave this show a chance even though I love Jason Bateman. I’ve been a fan ever since he was on Silver Spoons. I’m pretty sure I’ve watched almost everything that he’s ever done and in Ozark he not only acts but directs and he does a great job with it. Season 2 is set to return in 2018 and I am eagerly awaiting it.
  2. Jessica Jones Season 2 – Set to return on March 8th this Marvel hero show is one of the better ones to have come out of the series of grittier shows highlighting more of Marvel’s somewhat grounded characters in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Jessica is a smart-ass private investigator with super strength but she doesn’t want to use her powers or embrace the hero thing. We last saw Jessica in Marvel’s The Defenders and she was a bright spot in that series.
  3. Peaky Blinders Season 5 – I cannot confirm that this is coming on a specific day but I just recently finished bingeing this series and looked to see when season 5 is dropping. IMDB says 2018. I hope they are right. It is a very compelling series.
  4. Altered Carbon Season 1 – This new series comes on on Friday and it is a sci-fi thriller/murder mystery that is set 300 years in the future. I’m excited to see this one, I need a new fun science fiction series to watch.
  5. The Shannara Chronicles – While this is not a Netflix original series it is the next series that I intend on bingeing. It has one awesome actor in it, Manu Bennett. I started watching it years ago and only got to see 2 episodes. I liked them but there wasn’t room on the DVR for me to keep up with it. Two seasons are on Netflix.
  6. Trolls

  7. Trolls: The Beat Goes On – This is a new series and it is a lot of fun to watch with the kids. there are six episodes that you can watch now.
  8. She-Ra Reboot – Netflix is rebooting She-Ra and updating it for the modern era. I wonder if this gets a good following whether He-Man is far behind?
  9. Trollhunters Season 3 and 3 Below – These two series are part of the Tales of Arcadia Trilogy by Guillermo del Toro. I have thoroughly enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 of Trollhunters and cannot wait for the third installment. By making this into a wider series with more mythology is even better. And in 2019 a third series, Wizards is being released.
  10. EVERYTHING SUCKS

  11. Everything Sucks – A quirky, funny coming of age story that follows two groups of high school misfits, Everything Sucks! follows an A/V club and a Drama club who collide in 1996 Oregon.
  12. Lost in Space – I have high hopes for this reboot of the classic 1960’s TV series. I liked the movie that was done years ago and look forward to seeing what Netflix is going to do for this series. Looking at the cast so far is impressive. First and foremost is Toby Stephens who was Captain Flint in Black Sails. He is an incredible actor and I loved him in that series. Next is Molly Parker who has done all sorts of things including Deadwood and Netflix Original House of Cards. Also in the cast is Parker Posey who will play Doctor Smith. Yes, changing up the baddie to a woman. I like it. There are some heavy hitters in this series so you know Netflix is taking it seriously and so it should be a decent watch. I have no timeline on this series, though.

Llama Llama

As a bonus there is also a Llama Llama series that has just begun. This preschool series is based on the books and looks rather cute.

So that’s it. my top ten list for 2018 on Netflix. I’ll have to give you a rundown on this list at the end of the year to see if things lived up to what I expected, surpassed it or let me down. Either way there is a lot to check out on Netflix in 2018.
