The Last Jedi Viewing

The Wait for THE LAST JEDI is Over

Photo-A-Day #4629

Today I met Brian with Built from Bricks over at the movie theater. He bought tickets on the day that they came out. I was lucky that he bought me one, too. He got the first two tickets for the theater and we were the only people in the theater for weeks leading up to the movie. Then this morning he said that it was sold out. That is a good thing since I wanted to see it with a crowd and feel the energy of the moviegoers. I know that I can never, ever recreate the incredible excitement of seeing Thor Ragnarok with the cast and creators. That was incredible. But I wanted to get an excited audience and feel that energy.

While the movie was really good, I enjoyed it a lot. I look forward to seeing it again with Eva. Eva and I talked about the movie all the way to Dance rehearsal tonight. I don’t want to give anything away about the movie but I will give you some of my thoughts after you check out this new featurette.

General Leia Organa

With the passing of Carrie Fisher earlier this year I think that the scenes with Leia carried even more weight and feeling. She said and did some amazing things throughout the movie. One thing was really crazy and hard for me to explain or understand.

Chewbacca and Porg

Chewy didn’t have much screen time but he did bond with the Porgs. Porgs weren’t too big in the movie, either but they were a bit cute and weird.

Rey

Rey’s journey was an interesting one. The trailer really makes you think that things are going to go one way but… Well, you just don’t know. There are still questions that we want answered and I don’t like the answers that were given. I don’t know if those will be a big payoff in the 9th movie or not. Rey was definitely a great part of the movie.

Poe and BB-8

Poe had a larger role in this movie. He’s moved up in rank in the Resistance but is still a hotshot hot-headed pilot. It is not without justification, though. He’s an amazing pilot. But, her has a lot to learn about leadership.

Luke Skywalker

If you were disappointed by Luke not speaking in The Force Awakens you’ll be happy to see that he has a much larger role to play in this movie. I was satisfied by what happened with Luke in this.

Finn

Finn also has some more screen time and does some adventurous things and heroic things in the movie.

Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren’s arc is also interesting. I enjoyed his time on screen way more this time around then in the first movie.

Captain Phasma

You can tell from the trailer that Captain Phasma is back. She has a bigger role in this movie and there is actual action this time around. Will she return in the next one?

Vice Admiral Holdo

Laura Dern’s character was a new one and she had a significant role to play. I liked her.

Rose Tico

The new character, Rose Tico was a welcome addition to the cast. I liked her character and the things that she did.

General Hux

There were a few good moments with General Hux. He plays exasperated really well.

DJ

I forgot that Benicio Del Toro was going to be in the movie. It was sort of weird seeing him in the movie. He certainly fits into the universe with that super weird way of speaking.

Overall the movie was entertaining. The story moved along but was really, really long. We got there at 11:30am and walked out at 2:30pm. So very long. It remained entertaining, though.
