Photo-A-Day #998 01/01/08

Happy New Year Everyone! Today was a nice lazy day at home and I spent much of it working on my blogs. No posts except for my weekly post to FuelMyBlog but rather I did some maintenance that has been much needed for some time. When I started blogging over 5 years ago I started on blogger. Then I moved to this blog, paid for hosting and a domain name and started using wordpress. In that time I have created 6 blogs on blogger. And I have another blog that is also hosted. I won a contest this year and so I have that hosting for free. Each of my blogs weren’t even linked to each other, so I fixed that. I am looking into 2008 as the year where my blogs work for me more efficiently and they work for my readers with higher quality posts. So much is going on and I am excited to start off another year of blogging.

I’m just two days away from a major milestone and that is the 1000th Photo-A-Day post. That is incredible to me. I have over 45 people who are hosting Photo-A-Day on their own blogs. That is incredible. I am looking to get Photo-A-Day to 100 hosts. That is the goal for 2008.

Photo-A-Day is going to change slightly as well, nothing major just a small code change to the hosting so that you won’t have to change code each year. I need a couple of days to get this fixed and ready to send to everyone. I appreciate how so many people find my photos good enough to display on their blogs. Also the photos will be hosted on Flickr instead of Buzznet.

Because I am so very appreciative here is some link love to some great people. Thanks very much to:

Here are some bonus photos taken today.

I also removed the Do Follow images from my blogs as well as from the comment policy. I revamped the comment policy as well. I saw a great one on another blog but didn’t remember to bookmark it so I missed it. However it has been changed on all blogs. Basically saying that I will approve the comments that are real. If I don’t think it is real I will not post it and when I know something is spam it will be marked as spam.

While I no longer have the do follow images on the blog I do have a list of those who are listed as Do Follow on my blogroll page and I have the Do Follow plug in working on the blog so not to worry, commenting here will get you a comment back from me and a link to your blog. I just hope I limit those random Do Follow commentors who leave me incoherent non English comments that make no sense and are just for that backlink.

I have met so many great bloggers this year and I am giving you link love each day or week or month, There is just so much to see each day. 2008 is going to be great. I’ll be listing some blogging resolutions later this week. Being more relaxed is one of them so I am going to wait a couple of days to put mine up.
