Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest

I’ve now see the all new Curious George A Halloween Boo Fest holiday special about 6 times. I received a screener of the movie to check out with the kids. It has become Andrew’s favorite thing to watch now. He is crazy about “ooh ooh” as he calls George. We’ve been watching many past seasons on Amazon Prime. George is now Andrew’s go to character.

But how is the special? It is a cute story of Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat enjoying Halloween at their country home. While there they learn the legend of “No Noggin” a ghost with a penchant for kicking off hats. George is determined to find out all about this mysterious character and also determined to win the costume contest at the town’s Halloween fair so that he can win a leaf vacuum for the Man in the Yellow Hat.

There is one very funny part in the special that I loved. It is a small exchange between Curious George and The Man in the Yellow Hat. As an adult it really struck me as funny because it was one of those small bits of dialog that takes a moment not to take itself, too seriously. It was my favorite part. It sort of went over the kid’s heads but if you are an adult and have grown up with Curious George and read the books and just know the character then you’ll probably get it, too.

The special comes out on Monday October 28th and will also replay on Halloween. Check your local listings for showtimes. I’d suggest taping of DVRing it to watch with the kids on Halloween night or afternoon. They will get a kick out of it. I’m pretty sure we’re going to wear out the screener before Halloween. We watched it twice this morning alone.

Below is the official press release about the show.

App Alert: AdvenChewers for iOS

AdvenChewers Opening Title

I received a download code to try out the new game, AdvenChewers. Opinions of the app are 100% my own.

AdvenChewers follows the adventures of the Kid. His dad was kidnapped by a maniac with a penchant for creating evil flying machines. The kid must travel through multiple levels armed only with special chewing gum and the aid of some birds. Sounds a little silly, doesn’t it?

Well, at first I wasn’t quite sold on the game because I have an aversion to chewing gum. No, really I can’t stand the stuff. But, I gave the game a try and found it to be very fun and visually a home run. The animation is fantastic and detailed. The obstacles get more elaborate and difficult as you go along but some of those can be used to your advantage. Continue reading App Alert: AdvenChewers for iOS
