We received a special WonderBox thanks to the movie Wonder Park. The movie is partnering with Amazon.com with some specially themed Wonder Boxes that feature characters from the movie. The box that we received was full of fun crafting supplies. This is a great tie-in with the movie because the main character, June uses her creativity and imagination plus anything she can get her hands on, to create Wonder Park.

So, this box is a part of something larger, a contest through Paramount and Amazon where kids can create something with a box and upload the images to wonderbox.wonderparkmovie.com/ and be entered to win one of 5 $1000 Amazon.com gift cards. So far the kids have just decided to play with the crafting items to decorate the existing Amazon.com box that was sent. However, this weekend they will be working on making something else with the various boxes we have around the house. Continue reading The Kids are Creating a WonderBox Courtesy of Wonder Park Movie

DreamWorks She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Celebrates International Women’s Day

Eva and the finished She-Ra sword

We are big fans of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power in this house. That goes for everyone including Andrew and myself. It is important that there be a show like this for both of my kids because of the content of the show. Women can be brave and powerful and men can be there to support and not just be the hero coming in to save them. The folks at DreamWorks sent me a special video with the cast of She-Ra and also the executive producer Noelle Stevenson that was made for International Women’s Day. I watched it this morning and hat to share it with both of the kids. It think it is pretty powerful. Take a look.

The video also features Aimee Carrero (Adora/She-Ra), Lauren Ash (Scorpia), Marcus Scribner (Bow), Karen Fukuhara (Glimmer), Merit Leighton (Frosta), and Krystal Joy Brown (Netossa). I loved the discussion of the young girls in the video and also how important it was that Bow was represented and discussed his role as a character in the show. That was important for Andrew to hear.

There is a much larger discussion to be had around this show and the themes and idea. Luckily I have a set of great activity sheets to stimulate discussion.
