Relative Insanity - Cards

Absolute Family Hilarity with Jeff Foxworthy’s New Board Game Relative Insanity

Relative Insanity - Gameplay

We received a copy of the new PlayMonster game called Relative Insanity for free to play and review. The game was created by Jeff Foxworthy based on many of his jokes from his comedy specials. Opinions about the game are 100% our own.

Last week we had my in-laws staying with us for a few days. I was planning on having a few people over so that we could give Relative Insanity a try. I was kinda hesitant to play it with my Mother In-Law because the game was all about silly family jokes and I know that a Mother-In-Law joke was going to be in there at some point.

The premise of the game is that everyone has at least one crazy family member. If you don’t think you do, then that means it’s YOU! In Relative Insanity, a new party game created by comedian Jeff Foxworthy. Featuring his relatable humor, Jeff wrote the game based on his family – its’ better to laugh at the craziness that happens in the family, and that’s what this game does!

Jeff Foxworthy with Relative Insanity Game

Game play as follows: Read a setup card aloud, like: “When my brother brought out his new baby to show the family, Granny blurted out…” Then everyone else chooses one of their punchline cards to finish the phrase, like: “You are not the father!” or “Somebody took a trip to the land of bad decisions,” etc. The reader picks the funniest one to give that player a point! It’s a different hilarious game each time you play!

The game is for 4 to 12 players, ages 14 to adult. We definitely could not play the game with the kids. While the humor is not out of control it would be a bit too adult for the kids at this time. I think that Jeff Foxworthy has pretty family friendly humor for the older family members. There are some things that are just too grown up for the kids.

So, the four of us played the game, me, my wife and the in-laws. I don’t think we’ve played a game together in many years. When we were first dating I would visit and we would play card games. So, it had been a while and we got right into the game. It is super straightforward. One person take s a setup card and reads it out loud. All the other players look through their punchline cards and tries to pick the funniest one to go with the setup. Then the player with the setup card shuffles the cards and then reads them out one at a time. Reading them out loud got a ton of laughs!

Once all the cards have been read the person with the setup card then chooses which of the punchline cards was the funniest. That person wins the setup card. The first person to gain 5 of the setup cards is the winner. We laughed so hard as we played.
