Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Have Landed In Theaters!

Scott Lang Hope Van Dyne Hank Pym

I was scanning Instagram yesterday and saw the very last thing of the ANT-MAN AND THE WASP movie and so I had to get to the theater before any other spoilers headed my way. So, I hopped on Fandango and grabbed a ticket for the 6:20pm show that night. I contacted my boss and said I was using some personal time at the last minute and got to the theater. Many times when I see movies I go first thing in the morning so I can watch the movie and sleep and then go to work. Yesterday, however, we were coming back from the Cape and I didn’t think I could catch the movie, but I did. I’m glad that I did. The movie was a great sequel and so much fun. Seeing it with a bunch of other people who were into it and laughing made it better.

Before you see the movie check out this featurette. There are no spoilers in it, I assure you. Then I’ll tell you a bit more about the movie and what I thought.

“Powers” featurette:

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, with Laurence Fishburne and Michael Douglas.

Scott and Cassie Lang

I really loved the interaction between Scott and Cassie Lang. You can see how much he tries to be a good dad to her. He’s a total goofball and screws things up over and over but she sees through that and sees the hero that he is and how he keeps trying. He’s very inspiring to her.

Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang

There is some major tension between Scott and Hope and also Scott and Hank because of the events of Captain America: Civil War. There were some major consequences for all the characters. Also, some majorly hurt feelings.

ANT-MAN becomes Giant Man

When Scott grows in size there are consequences that we learn about in the movie.

Luis

I loved Luis in this movie. We do get a great Luis story, too. This one got a bunch of great laughs.

Kurt and Dave

Kurt and Dave are back once again and while they do not get a ton of screen time they do steal scenes that they are in. One of the funniest moments to me was with these guys.

Ghost

The character of Ghost was an interesting one. She is a tragic character and her power set is freaky and cool.

Hank Pym

Hank had some great hero moments in the movie. We do learn more about his past and how difficult he is to work with. This made for some funny moments.

Maggie and Paxton

Cassie’s mom and step-dad are back again and they have some funny moments.

Bill Foster

A new character added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Dr. Bill Foster. He is a former colleague of Hank Pym. From the trailer we learn that he worked on the Goliath project and he was obviously Goliath. It is great to get another super hero in the mix.

Hope Van Dyne

Hope gets plenty of time to shine in the movie. She is hurt and upset about the things that Scott did, but mostly for not involving her. She does not want to be left behind and we learn why. She channels that hurt and anger into kicking some major butt on the bad guys. There are some great action scenes that are centered around what Hope can do as The Wasp.
