Cal Ripken Jr. at the M3 Summit

Cal Ripken Jr. at the M3 Summit
Photo-A-Day #1980

This morning I was up at the crack of dawn ready to get to the airport for the start of the Modern Media Man Summit down in Atlanta, GA. I got to the airport and started taking a few photos of EvaBear and tweeting and a few other things. While I was doing that I saw a tweet from Chris Brogan. The title sounded cool and so I clicked over and then fell on my face with joy. Chris took my comment from a previous post of his and made it into a full on post and he linked to my blog consulting business. He talked it up and well, it opened the floodgates. I got some seriously awesome inquiries from that. So now I have to get rich and buy Chris that pony he’s always talking about.

The flights were pretty uneventful and easy. I was actually on the same flight as a few guys from Dad Labs and didn’t get a chance to talk with them because I was way in the back of the plane and got stuck there when the plane landed. I missed them afterwards, too. I caught up with Kevin M. Roy because he came and picked me up at the airport. I dropped my stuff at the room and then went downstairs to the expo. People were setting up but Dad Labs was there and they were filming the live show. And I was asked to be on it! Wow, I was on with Clay Nichols and C.C. Chapman which was very cool. The most fun was the fact that C.C. and I live about 20 minutes from each other and we had to go to NYC for a near miss meeting and then to Atlanta to actually meet. It was pretty funny.

After that I hung out in the Chevy Volt Recharge Station with Chris from Dad of Divas and then we were joined by the guys from Man of the House and also Jim Kukral and Kevin Gainey. We chatted for a while and then checked in. I ran upstairs and got ready for the VIP opening session with Cal Ripken Jr. I was asked to photograph everything in the Chevrolet Suite and then to photograph Cal as he spoke to the attendees. And then after that I did some more special photos. It was a good day and I turned in early to work on my session for tomorrow (finish presentation) and to get some sleep before the whole day tomorrow and the early morning photowalk (6:00am)

    1. Mo,

It was a great day and I haven’t even been able to get everything into this one post. So much awesome. Plus Nintendo put a 2000 point Wii card in my swag bag, sweet!

    1. Joe,

Thanks very much. I’m going to continue to work harder and harder to get to that brass ring. I appreciate the comment. Looking forward ot when we can do another show together.

  1. Please tell me you got a photo of EvaBear with Cal?

PS – big congrats on the Chris Brogan Nod! I wish only good and big things for you – just dont forget us little daddy bloggers while you’re beaching it in the south of france 🙂

  2. How lucky are you? I live in California now but was born and raised in Baltimore and Cal is such a representation of our town.

I like how you’re posting the metadata on the shots you’re taking. I’m an amateur photographer and post mainly pics of my babies on my blog. I haven’t thought too much about posting the metadata (some shots are taken with my iPhone as well) but it’s a good idea.

Looking forward to hearing your other posts on the summit. This is my first time to your site but I’ll be back.

    Hope to see you around.

    1. DadStreet,

It was very cool to see Cal, but wish I had spoken up and gotten a photo with him. Thanks for checking out my blog and glad you like the posting of the metadata. Thanks for coming by.

  3. Mr. Ripken is one of the finest Athletes as well as being a honest and sincere Human. All the best to him and his Family.

    1. Tony,
Cal Ripken was a wonderful person to meet in person. My only regret was not speaking up and having someone take MY picture with him.
