Cars 3 Is Out on Bluray/DVD Today with Fantastic Bonus Features on the #Cars3Bluray

cars 3 Blu-ray

On October 9 – 11 I attended a Disney Press Event for THOR: RAGNAROK. My hotel and airfare and meals were taken care of while I was in L.A. Opinions and observations as well as recaps and such are all my own. This post will also contain some affiliate links to Amazon.com.

Cars 3 was released on Bluray/DVD today. This is my favorite of the three Cars movies. There is so much in this movie to enjoy but there is even more on the Bluray/DVD. I’m talking about the Bonus Features. I received the Bluray/DVD combo about a week ago and just got a chance to pour through all the bonus features the other day. There are a whole bunch of great bonus features with lots of insight into the movie.

Five years ago I went on my first Disney press trip. It was to the Pixar campus for Monsters University. While I was there I got to speak with so many amazing people who put these movies together. Well, the bonus features here on this Bluray/DVD were like taking a trip back to Pixar to get some special insider knowledge about this movie. Here are a few of my favorite bonus features.

CARS 3 - Legends
MEET THE LEGENDS — Lightning McQueen comes hood to hood with a group of characters who represent the roots of stock car racing—and provide a link to Lightning’s late coach and mentor, Doc Hudson. From left: River Scott (voice of Isiah Whitlock Jr.), Junior “Midnight” Moon (voice of Robert Glenn “Junior” Johnson), Smokey (voice of Chris Cooper), Louise “Barnstormer” Nash (voice of Margo Martindale), and Lightning himself (voice of Owen Wilson). “Cars 3” opens in U.S. theaters  on June 16, 2017. ©2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

Probably the most interesting was the feature, Legendary. This was most interesting because it was about real people who were made into cars for the movie. Specifically racing legends Wendell Scott and Louise Smith. These two racers were pioneers at a time when neither were welcome in the sport. They weren’t invited to race but showed up and won people over. They had the will and tenacity to keep going even if things were difficult. It was really cool to see more about the real world people and then see how their stories were added into the film to help Lightning McQueen.

LOU
MEET LOU — When a toy-stealing bully ruins recess for a playground full of kids, only one thing stands in his way: the “Lost and Found” box. Directed by Dave Mullins and produced by Dana Murray, Pixar Animation Studios’ new short “Lou” opens in U.S. theaters on June 16, 2017, in front of “Cars 3.” ©2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

The next feature that I really enjoyed was the short that appeared before the Cars 3 movie. This was the short called Lou. Lou was an interesting little short all about a Lost and Found box with a mind of its own.

CARS 3 - Crazy 8
CRAZY 8 DRAMA — In “Cars 3,” Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) hits the road in an effort to reignite his career. Along the way, he finds himself in the middle of a smash-and-crash, figure-8 race, facing off against local legend Miss Fritter, a formidable school bus who—like #95 himself—doesn’t like to lose. Featuring Lea DeLaria (Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black”) as the voice of Miss Fritter, Disney•Pixar’s “Cars 3” opens in U.S. theaters on June 16, 2017. ©2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

There were a couple of bonus features that involved Miss Fritter. Not only is there Miss Fritter’s Racing School and also Let’s. Get. Crazy. These two bonus features tell more about the Crazy 8 racers in a fun and funny ways. We even meet some real crazy eight racers. The features are funny and “Let’s. Get. Crazy.” is hosted by Lea Delaria the voice of Miss Fritter.

CARS 3 - Racing
BACK IN THE GAME — When challenged by a new generation of racers, legendary racer Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) turns to an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, to help him compete. Directed by Brian Fee (storyboard artist “Cars,” “Cars 2”) and produced by Kevin Reher (“A Bug’s Life,” “La Luna” short), “Cars 3” cruises into theaters on June 16, 2017. First Look Concept Art by Noah Klocek / ©2016 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

I also liked the bonus features about Cruz Ramirez. She is a new character in the movie. Cruz Ramirez is voiced by Cristela Alonzo and there is a very interesting bonus feature where they talk about using Cristela’s story and incorporating that into the story of Cruz. Watching these features and seeing how much humanity is put into these animated features makes the whole experience even better. I just love knowing as much as I can about the movies.

There is also a feature called Generations which is all about creating the look of these new race cars, the Next Gen cars, the rookies.

The Next Gen Racers

In addition to those features there is one all about the diecast cars that are made for the movie. did you know that there are nearly 1000 of them!? Wow! I collected the original cast way back when and then some additional ones but there is no way I could ave kept up with that entire line. It is incredible how many there are!

Below I have more information on the Bluray and also some clips from the movie and little featurettes. Pick your copy up today.
