Going to the House of Mouse!

See You Real Soon

We just found out today that we are going to be going to Walt Disney World for our Vacation of a Lifetime instead of going to Arizona. While we certainly do want to go to Arizona at some point things just didn’t work out for that location. I was upset about it for a little while but how much can you really complain when you have won a free trip.

We’ll be there from May 14 – May 18, 2009. So we will be staying at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa. This is gonna be quite the step up from the econo places we’ve stayed in the past. This is also an official Walt Disney World® Hotel in Lake Buena Vista so there is a shuttle to the parks. We are still up int he air about maybe renting a car so we’d have more control of when we get back and forth to the hotel and so we could maybe drop in on our favorite folks in downtown Orlando, the IZEA team.

There are many people down in Orlando that I’d love to catch up with, maybe we can do a dinner one night in Downtown Disney or something like that. It will depend upon whether or not we have a car. Of course we hope very much that Grandpa Dano and Mimi can come up to Orlando to visit and also we hope that Auntie Mo can come down too.

I’m very excited to get back so I can spend some time taking some photos. There is just so much to see at Disney and the photo opportunities are amazing.

Cinderella's Castle

I will have to check out Flickr for some inspiration. Then I can try and plan out my shots. Of course I will be taking my Xshot with me so that we can get some great family pics.

On this trip I will be taking another new device. I’ll be taking with me my new Polaroid PoGo. With the PoGo I can make instant photos that require no ink because of the special ZINK paper. I am happy to say that ZINK has sponsored me with products for my upcoming Blogging Event, “Blogs, Brews and Belly Laughs” at Speed of Thought Playhouse on the 13th of March. But back to the ZINK Paper. For our trip I will buy some ZINK paper to create a scrapbook while on the vacation. During our downtime we can pick photos, instantly print them and stick them right into the scrapbook. I said stick because you can peel off the backing on ZINK paper and it is sticky. There are so many cool applications for this and once you see the “Blogs, Brews and Belly Laughs” (It will be broadcast live on USTREAM.tv) you will see another great application of the paper. I can’t wait!

Because ZINK was so generous to me I want to tell you so much about the paper. Here are some Key Features of ZINK Paperâ„¢:
* Zero ink required.
* Capable of reproducing millions of vivid colors at very high resolution.
* Earth Friendly. Less waste – No cartridges, no extra packaging to throw away.
* Protected by a polymer overcoat, providing water resistance and image durability.
* Affordable for everyday use.
* Not sensitive to light.
* Long lasting and designed to resist fading from exposure to light, heat and humidity.

  1. I agree with lenny, definitely get a character breakfast. Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary is pretty awesome. If you guys feel like a change of scenery, I have some Universal/Islands of Adventure park-hopper tickets you can have. Although those parks aren’t quite as baby-friendly.

    I wish I could take a vacation to Disney and feel like it’s a crazy special thing. I used to go at least once a year when I was young and now I work there…but that’s life in Orlando!

  2. May is going to be a Disney-tastic month!! I will most certainly drive to see you all…I feel like I should move there permanently;) So excited for you guys-I hope you have an awesome trip!! How could you not when The Mouse is involved? 🙂

  3. Lenny,
    We will look into a character breakfast. I think Eva would love it very much, she is so social that it would be perfect for her even though she is so little.

  4. Scott,
    If you work at Disney then we may be able to see you right? What do you do there? Where are you and can we come find you to say hi? I’ll be checking into the character breakfast too. I did hear that the Contemporary was a good one.

  5. Mo,
    Fantastic. We don’t want to keep making you drive all over but we’d sure be so excited to see you. We know Eva loves her Auntie Mo.

  6. Hey Drew,

    Nice change of plans! Are you going to Disney in May? We’ll be down there as well – 5/5 to 5/13. If you’re down there during the same time frame, we’ll have to try to get together. I agree with the previous comments about the character breakfast. We’ve done Ohana at the Polynesian and Chef Mickey at the Contemporary. Ohana was okay. The food was good, it just seemed liekt hey had too many reservations. We had a 8:45 reservation and didn’t get seated until 10:00! Chef Mickey was outstanding! We were seated promptly for our 9:00 reservation. The food was excellent and there was a huge variety. We’ve got a reservation for our May trip. Book as soon as possible as available slots go quickly.

  7. Hey John,

    We are going right after you return. We leave the 14th. So close but totally missing you altogether. We’ll certainly be looking into a character breakfast very soon. The contemporary sounds like a great one. I remember you telling me about it and I certainly want to go there. Eva love characters.

  8. I work at Hollywood Studios but I’m only a sub. It’s the band I told you about, Mulch Sweat & Shears. They play 5 shows a day Tuesday through Saturday, usually out on Streets of America (where they have the fake New York and San Francisco skylines).

    I can let you know closer to the time whether or not I’ll be out there. Since I’m a sub, I only go in if Matt (the full-time drummer and megaphone’s singer) can’t work.

  9. Baba,
    Actually this trip is not IZEA related, however I would love to catch up with my IZEA friends. This trip was from a contest I won. I’m very excited about it.
