Green Thumb Sunday 08/26/07 #1

This week I can name the flower, but I took all the photos in a more abstract way. I love the size of this Mexican Giant Sunflower and got in very tight to get some detail. I also sprayed it down with some water because I just love water drops on flowers. Thanks so much for dropping by this Sunday. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

I recently won a GizFolio from FuelMyBlog and the other day I picked 16 of my favorite photos for the freelance portfolio. I’d love to hear what you think of the ones I chose.

  1. Wonderful photos. I agree that water drops add a lot to flower photos. I love to see this type of work. Wish I could get some good macro shots myself.

  2. I love the abstract photography as well as loving sunflowers. Your photography makes me look at things differently when I have my camera out and about. Thanks.

  3. Sometimes I can just slap myself. When I want wet flowers, I wait for rain????

These are gorgeous. I love the really really close up shots. The double spirals in the flower are great and clear. Some days I want to print out shots like this and have my class trace the spirals. It’s great and fun and piques interest, but it ain’t in the curriculum.

  4. Hey there Spanish Joe, Nice to see a face with all these comments that you have been leaving. Glad you liked how the photos came out.

  5. Aiyana,
The biggest secret tot he macro is the tripod. It is the single best way I have been able to get these shots. Before the tripod my shots were no where quite as sharp and clean. Glad you liked them.

  6. Thanks Sara,
I found that the more I looked at photos I liked from other photographers I tried to incorporate their style, I’m a big fan of Thomas Hawk’s stuff and he shoots amazing macro.

  7. hi chigiy,
It is funny to hear that someone has macro envy, I want to be able to get in even tighter. I’ll be visiting your blog, can’t wait to see the sunflower.

  9. Curriculum, I bet you can work it in in a creative way that incorporates part of the curriculum learning too. Glad you liked the photos.
