Happy Mother’s Day 2012

Photo-A-Day #2592

Today was Mother’s Day and instead of our usual 8am Church I came straight home and caught an hour of sleep and then headed down to Harwich with Allison, Eva and Andrew to go to my Aunt Cindy and Uncle Wayne’s house. The family was going to get together there for lunch. My grandma, mom and godmother would be there. Andrew’s godmother, Auntie Tara would be there along with some of my Aunts and Uncle’s and cousins. I decided to take 4 hours of vacation from work so that I could sleep a bit before going in for 11pm instead of 7pm. I was a bit tired all day but not too tired.

Proud Mom with her sweet kids.

So I slept for a quick hour and then we headed out, I treated Allison to Dunkin’s drive through, such a great husband. And even got her gas station flowers. Yep, I am a good husband. At least I didn’t write out the Mother’s Day cards in the car, but it was hinted at that I did. I make up for it by getting Allison a well deserved and much needed professional massage as a mother’s day gift.

The drive was pretty good and quick, we got to Aunt Cindy’s a little early and helped bring out some of the food. Cousin Scott manned the grill and we had a nice cookout complete with a sundae bar as well. Poor Allison can’t eat any milk products until Andrew turns one. At that point I’ll have to get a giant Reese’s Peanut Butter cup, case of Yeungling and some ice cream for her to have.

Folks started arriving and we enjoyed a fun family visit. Eva was so excited to spend time with Auntie Tara. There was a relaxing hammock that we all tried out, even Andrew.

Best Seat in the House

I laid in that hammock with him and we gently rocked to sleep. Well, he did I didn’t I just couldn’t sleep even though I should have been sleeping at that point. Andrew was flat out because of the gentle rocking of the hammock. Maybe I should get one to relax in in the back yard as I drift to sleep to the sounds of the gas powered RC car on one side and expletives on the other. Sounds relaxing.

Another nice thing about the day was that we had four generations together. My Grandpa, Dad, Me and Andrew. We made sure to get a photo of us together.

Four Generations of Andrew

We also made sure to get photos of mom’s with the kids, at least with my kids. We got Great-Grandma, Allison, Mom and Auntie Tara (godmother to Andrew) in the shot with the kids.

It was a wonderful day and I’m glad I was able to take the time to go down. It was good for Eva and Andrew to spend time with their grandparents and great-grandparents, too. We headed home in time for me to catch about four hours of sleep before going in to work. That was a strange feeling, waking up around 10 and then going to work, but it worked out okay. It was worth taking the time. Happy Mother’s Day!
