One Particular Harbor

One Particular Harbor
Photo-A-Day #1213

Today Allison, Eva and I went to the Newport Folk Festival. I’ve been there twice before but that was before Allison. For Allison and Eva this was their first time at the event. I like the Newport Folk Festival because of the variety of performers. This year was no exception, there were a ton of great performers including one who has been trying to play there for 40 years. And that would be Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy was the main reason that we went to the festival.

We arrived at the festival around 3:00. It started at 11:30 but we were taking our time and we also took Eva with us. While she was protected and shaded from the sun the whole time we were there we didn’t want to push things for an all day event. As it was we didn’t get home till 10:30pm. So the day would have been very long indeed.

The Newport Folk Festival takes place at Fort Adams State Park and it is right by Newport Harbor. I had seen boats in the harbor for the Folk Festival before but never, ever this many. This was a party atmosphere and it you are a parrothead being on a boat int he harbor today was your day. I’ve always wanted to bring my kayak and spend the day on the water listening to the music, paddling around and making friends. I think that next year this might be a mission for The Wired Kayaker.

We had an awesome time and I twittered the Set List as each son was played. I also took some additional photos. Check those out on Flickr.

  1. Wish I had known about this, as not only am I a JB fan, but can’t get enough of Newport! Enjoyed your Twitter updates of each song played ~ hope you had that Del’s Lemonade for me ~ and thanks for sharing on Flickr the wonderful pix! I live vicariously!

  2. Cindi,
Glad you enjoyed the updates. The concert was a really fun one. We weren’t able to get tickets to the Tweeter Center/GreatWoods/Comcast Center show this year so this was the next best thing.
