Paddling Pocasset River

Photo-A-Day #1947

Today was one of those beautiful Cape Saturdays that was jam packed with activity. We started the morning off with a Trip to Walmart, sure not a major activity but it is a stressful endeavor whenever we go on the Cape. Actually it wasn’t too bad, we were in and out and while we were there I was able to pick up 11 We Reward points. What is We Reward? It is a program from IZEA that you can use to check in on Foursquare, Facebook and Twitter all while earning a little bit of cash.

The afternoon brought with it a trip to the beach where we played in the water and then I dug a hole for Eva to play in. While I was lounging at the beach I finished reading Jim Kukral’s book Attention! This Book Will Make You Money: How to Use Attention-Getting Online Marketing to Increase Your Revenue (Aff Link). Now that I am done with the first reading I’m going to go back over the book with a fine toothed comb and make notes and apply these attention getting tactics. The book is a great read and tomorrow night Daniel M. Clark and I are going to host Jim as a guest on Geek Dads Weekly so he can talk more about the book. I hope that he has some ideas for us as far as the podcast because it is a good show and needs to gather a wider audience.

After the beach Allison, Eva and I went to Cape Cod Kayak for a trip. My friend Kim runs this great shop over off Scraggy Neck Road and 28a across from Somerset Creamery. I was happy to see the place was hopping. I brought Kim over her very own XShot Kayak Mount and an Xshot so that she could set up a Kayak Camera rig like the one I am using.

We headed for a trip around Basset’s Island but when we got to the launch site it was really very windy. With some inexperienced paddlers that makes for a none to fun trip. Luckily there are alternatives and we were able to drive a little ways down the road to the Pocasset River. This was much better because the paddle would be in calm water and we’d be able to take a leisurely paddle. Allison paddled with Eva in the tandem kayak and I used my own so that I could film our trip. I used my KODAK Playsport cameras and my XShot Kayak Mounts. I really like the rig and am anxious to see all the footage that I shot. I shot a lot of it, too. So that will be coming soon.

I did give my camera to one of the other paddlers and he got this nice shot of the family as we paddled together.

After the paddle we headed over to the Courtyard Restaurant for a nice dinner.

  1. WoW! Now that looks like fun 🙂 One of my happiest memories from childhood was learning how to use a canoe on the Noosa river in Qld. We used to row over to this island sand bank where the soldier crabs used to be all marching in squares 10 to a row and ten across. Just like Roman legions ~ except much prettier and far less dangerous..LOL

    1. Jan,
The Noosa River in Qld? Where is that? I’d love to get some photos of soldier crabs doing maneuvers.
