Photo-A-Day #844 07/31/07

Busy Bee

I found my Dad’s old tripod today. It took some hard twisting but I was able to get all the legs working. The tripod made my macro shots much more stable. I took a bunch around the house, the colorful wasp from yesterday was there again and so was the garter snake. So I got much better shots of the garter snake.

Here are a bunch of bonus images from today.

Today I created a new Flickr Group for FuelMyBlog Members. If you are on FuelMyBlog be sure to let me know so I can get you invited to the FMB Flickr group. You can upload 2 images a day.

Today I also found out that I am a finalist for the Super Bowl Ad Contest at FuelMyBlog. I’ll be asking for help with the voting once voting begins.

Tomorrow I will start a contest on this blog that will be very simple to enter. Look for the contest to begin in tomorrow’s Photo-A-Day post.

I am now signed up for a couple new things. First is Faqqly, a personal F.A.Q. page. Stop by and ask me a question. You can even interview me. I also joined FaceBook. And I am signed up for I Rate My Day.

  1. Great pic!

If you are looking for an inexpensive tripod that you can easily carry around, check out this one:

I bought this one from Sears, and it cost a little more there…but I had a gift card so it was free for me. It’s decent…easy to fold and unfold, and comes with a carrying case, with a strap so you can carry it on your shoulder.

Now I will be able to start working on my own cooking/crafting video podcasts. The XShot is great, but it won’t cut it when I need both hands free. And Mike can’t do pictures or video to save his life.

  2. Wow that is very inexpensive. I may look into getting one of those. I’ve been looking at all these fancy ones and after using the old one that my dad had I think I can do pretty well with that one, sure it is heavy and bulky but it keeps things fairly steady. I’ll use it for a bit.

Cooking and crafting podcasts that sounds like some great ideas. Good luck with that.

  3. Thanks Fez,
I should have been using a Tripod all along, makes for the best macro shots. Especially since my macro lens is also a large telephoto one and jumps easily.

  4. Great macro shots. Taking pictures of insects is pretty tough. But your pictures look like you book them from model agency. Great work!
