PhotoWalk with Eva at Spohr Garden

Photo-A-Day #3750

Ever since I gave Eva her own camera I have been looking forward to a trip to Spohr Garden to take a photowalk with her. We finally got a chance to do so this morning. We got there around 7am but the place doesn’t open until 8am. There are no gates so we walked in anyway. We walked down the pathway and met a woman who was also there taking a walk. She pointed out a hummingbird in a garden. I tried to get my 18-200mm lens on in time to snap a shot of it but it flew off. We would walk back around and find it again only to have it fly off once more.

Macro Flower Shot

Eva had a nice time taking photos of the flowers. She still needs to work on taking her time with each photograph but she is getting better. She is developing a good eye. We walked the garden for about an hour and then headed back along Surf Drive. We found a public parking area where we could get out and walk a little ways to see the Osprey nest. This nest had a mother Osprey and two babies in it. It was the only one around that is close enough where I could get a halfway decent photo with the 18-200mm lens.

When we took Eva to Science School today we were going to take Andrew to the aquarium but there were no parking spots or we didn’t have quarters with us. Either way we headed back towards Falmouth to the playground. We stopped first at the Barking Claw. I stopped there yesterday after I stopped at Cape Cod Kayak and also at the Harley Shop. The Barking Claw is a roadside Lobster Roll cart and Hot Dog cart. I had us stop so I could get a special relish that Billy, the owner makes fresh each day. It was a mixture of jalapenos, tomatillos and onions. It was very good and quite hot.

We then went to the playground. Andrew had fun running around. He met some older girls and wanted to play with them. They were humoring him but really wanted to play alone. We played for a little while longer and then headed to Main street to get something to drink. We went to Gheffi’s Candy shop for some water and some candy. There were tons of gummies at the store and we got some for Andrew to try. He’s a fan of gummies. We ate them along Main street where Andrew and I played with a special chess set at the public park.

We took the kids to see Minions tonight for dinner and a movie at the Cinema Pub. The movie was a fun one.
