Post IZEAFest: How I'm Feeling
Photo-A-Day #1642

The day or so after I get back from a vacation, especially one jam packed with activities like this past one I am always burnt out. Couple that with Eva waking up at 4:30am and insisting on sleeping with us, me oversleeping and missing my workout and barely making it to work on time, well, it makes for a tough day back. It makes it tougher when I get back and see that the project I was really looking forward to doing gets put on hold. Yeesh!

Today wasn’t all bad, in fact things started turning around pretty quickly. I had a great conversation with Kim Ann Curtin, my friend, life coach and client. She helped me get myself a bit focused for the day and the tasks ahead for today. That helped and I have some action plans to work on.

I was also contacted by a reporter from NPR to answer some questions about the latest rules put forth by the FTC regarding Sponsored Posts and compensation for blogging among other things. So I did a phone interview with Laura Sydell and ended up having a couple of my quotes plus an excerpt from a video I made a while back being used in the piece which is audio but also transcribed. There was one quote that was supposed to be about sponsored tweets and how there hasn’t been a fully agreed upon practice for disclosing sponsored tweets however we are trying to disclose as much as possible in the best ways possible. The transcribed article used a screen shot of this blog so that was pretty cool.

Today I also ordered Eva’s birthday cake. She turns two on Saturday but we are having a little pizza party on Thursday to celebrate. It should be fun, I hope to catch up a bit before then.

Oh and the photo is of me burning dinner. I was trying to do too much at once and well dinner got a little crispy. And that is not because I am some inept Dad who cannot cook, I can, I just do it faster and so once in a while… Extra Crispy!

  1. This is the first time I’ve seen the new format…looks AWESOME!!

I hope you and Allison get better rest tonight:( Give Eva a big hug from me:) I’ll post pictures tomorrow…I just don’t have the energy it deserves tonight!!

    1. Mo,
We slept pretty good last night. the only thing nagging at me was what was happening in The Lost Symbol. I read that on my new Kindle 2 (Oh I love this thing so far) and something major happened int he book and I wanted to keep reading but knew I had to get some sleep. Glad you like the new blog design. I LOVE it!.

I ordered Eva’s Birthday cake yesterday. It is so cute. Tinkerbell of course.

    1. Thanks very much John. Now we’ve got to get you some major Golf Digest interviews and things like that. I’m sure that there is a story in Social Media and sports. Tweeting your swings and twit-pic-ing the course. Incorporating more of social media and You into the game making people part of your world, you have a great way of doing that in person. You can do it more in Social Media especially with your desire to rise to the PGA tour. You have an energy that attracts people to you both online and off.

    1. Thank you Web Agency. My new format removed my old commenting policy where I ask politely that people do not use keywords as their names. Since your comment felt genuine I kept it. I’m here to interact with real people and build real community so in the future please leave a name not a keyword with your comment. I would sincerely appreciate that. Thank you.

  2. I can’t imagine why man. Wish we had seen you at SeaWorld on Sunday. Missed the whole IZEA Crew that day. I have so many ideas in my head that I think it short circuited too. Thanks again for such a fantastic redesign. See you at BWE09

  3. I seen alot of tweets about this years IZEAFEST on twitter, I had never heard of it. After reading so many great things about it, I think its a must attend. I will have to try and get there next time.

  4. Glad to hear I’m not the only one! My head is still spinning trying to process all the information I learned. Plus the wonderful ideas I came up with while at IzeaFest are taking some time to put into action. Although I do believe I finally caught up on some sleep and don’t feel like I was hit by a train anymore. 🙂 Next up… blogging!

It was GREAT meeting you and the family!
.-= Look at what MommaDJane wrote blog ..IzeaFest Weekend Conference =-.

    1. Dwan,
It was great meeting you as well. I am so sorry about the BluFrog exploding. Oh man that is terrible. I certainly hope that none of your other prizes were damaged like your kindle and such. I see that you and Alan got screwed by that horrible gas station that stinks too. And you got the 20 minute suspended session on the Manta. Were you stuck there on the back part or actually out on the coaster above the park?

  5. I know how you feel- I don’t think I’m going to be caught up on sleep until the weekend. Let me know when you get your pics up, can’t wait to see them, especially the ones from dinner w. Shamu!

    1. Dina,
Getting my pics up is a priority, I got so behind and then got home and even more behind. My laptop didn’t help me out this whole trip.

  6. you Know if you add water too your burnt dinner put it on low and let it reconstitute ,you can say you were going for a “smoky flavor”
What was it before they let you cook ?

  7. I feel the same way. It was hard to go back to work at 3am on Tuesday after such a fun filled IZEAFest. I am super excited for IZEAFest 2010. It was nice to meet you. Now it is time to put all of the great ideas from IZEAFest into action.

Also Happy Birthday to Eva. Hope she has a great birthday on Saturday.

    1. Rob,

A 3am work day morning, ouch. I thought getting up for 5:00am was tough. It was great meeting you as well. You and Melinda worked really hard to get there and I was impressed with the swag bags you guys gave out, really cool getting so many companies to help you. Thanks for the birthday wishes for Eva.
