Rest Easy Grandpa John

Photo-A-Day #2177

Today we lost a wonderful family member. Allison’s Grandpa John passed away today. He passed quietly and peacefully surrounded by family members. Allison and Eva were able to be there with Grandpa John in his final moments. We are sad to lose Grandpa John but know that he is now at peace. We talked to Eva about Heaven. We explained that Grandpa John was going to Heaven and we’re very up front with Eva. While she was sad we didn’t want to lie to her that he was sleeping or something like that. She is taking it okay.

Because Allison has taken Eva with her to the nursing home downtown ever since she was a baby, Eva has no discomfort around people who are on oxygen or who are sick or in bed. She’s very comfortable with everyone in a nursing home. The kid has a huge heart. She loved Grandpa John so much and he loved her so. We all loved him and are sad to see him go.

  1. I think kids can understand way more than we give them credit for and they have such a boundless compassion. Sorry for your loss, it sounds like Grandpa John was well loved and will be remembered well.

    1. Naomi,

She is a very empathetic child. She is such a joy. She loved Grandpa John very much. Thank you for the sympathies.
