Review: Energizer Inductive Charger

Imagine coming home from work and placing your phone on the counter and having it charge automatically. No connecting of wires, no need to search for the charger, just place the phone down and it charges. That is the future according to Energizer and the their Qi Inductive Charger. Qi (pronounced Chee). Qi is the universal standard for inductive charging and more and more devices are going to be able to be charged in this way. This is what the charging station looks like.

So basically you place your phone onto that charging station and it charges. No need to plug the phone in at all. Just slip on the Inductive Charging Sleeve on the iPhone 3G or 3Gs or if you have a BlackBerry curve just attach the Inductive Charging Door then you are all set to start charging. When a device is placed on the charging station a light goes on to indicate charging is taking place and turns off when the device is completely charged. You can also charge an additional device via USB because there is a USB port on the back of the device.

Having a ton of devices and so many wires and ways of charging my devices can be confusing. I have a box under the desk FULL of wires and chargers. There are just so many. So having a device that allows me to charge quickly and easily is worth it. The Energizer Inductive Charger became available in October with the ability to charge the BlackBerry Curve and the iPhone 3G and 3Gs. Many more devices will be making use of the Qi technology and will be able to be charged on this Energizer Inductive Charger. Imagine a desk looking more like this.

The product is pretty amazing. Here is a video all about how inductive charging works. Hans is a bit over the top but funny, sort of makes me think of Mike Myer’s Deter character from back in the day.

Want to know more, then head over to the Energizer Inductive Charger page.

Disclosure: I was provided with an Energizer Inductive Charger from YouCast to try out. I was also provided with an Inductive Charging Door for the BlackBerry Curve and the Inductive Charging Sleeve for the iPhone 3G and 3Gs. Opinions about the device are 100% mine.

  1. Did you happen to notice any appreciable difference in charge time (either faster or slower) compared to a normal charger? I am guessing that it would not be as fast since the charge has a less direct path the battery.
