Review: Who is Simon Miller?

Allison and I just moved into our new house. We got the cable and Internet hooked up tonight and after we had spent and entire day moving from our old place to our new we decided to kick back and watch a movie. Granted I was reviewing this movie but we sat in our kitchen and watched the movie on the computer. The movie was Who is Simon Miller? The basic premise is that a hardworking father, Simon Miller, is gone a lot. He’s hardly ever home and so when he is home he tried to be there for the family but inevitable gets called away too soon. Where is he going all the time? And what happens when he doesn’t come back when he’s expected?

Well, you are going to have to watch the movie premiere on Saturday, August 6 on NBC at 8pm ET/7pm CT. I hate spoiling movies and so I won’t tell you much more than I already have about the plot. However, you will see a lot of the world as Simon’s family (wife, Son and Daughter) race across the globe to find their missing Dad. Yes this is a Family Movie Night movie and it is action packed, light-hearted and a fun movie for the family. Here is the official synopsis of the movie.

Like most families, the Millers have their challenges. Simon’s (Loren Dean) frequent business trips have created some distance between him and the rest of the family, leaving Meredith (Robyn Lively) stretched and struggling to keep things together. Daughter Sarah, an 18-year-old honor student, has recently gotten herself into trouble at school while son Kevin, 15, struggles to engage with anything outside of a video game…

But these issues all prove to be trivial when Simon goes missing. Sensing something is not right, the family frantically searches Simon’s office for information. Discovery of a stash of passports, all with Simon’s picture but each with a different alias, reveals that their father has been keeping more than a few secrets. In a frantic phone call, Simon urges the family not to tell anyone of his disappearance, not even the authorities, right before the line goes dead. Who is Simon Miller? And what exactly has he gotten himself – and now his family – into?

Shocked, scared and unsure if they can even trust the dad they thought they knew, the three embark on their own international mission to get him back. With Meredith’s sharp instincts, Sarah’s foreign language skills and Kevin’s natural techgenius, they try to unravel the mystery behind his disappearance. It’s a heartpounding family thriller that tests the limits to which families will fight for each other.

I hope that didn’t give anything away too much. I thought that overall the family dynamic was decent. This was a family that loves each other and while there were some cheesy lines in the movie it was good. I think that families that have kids approaching the ages of the kids in the movie might enjoy this especially if they like mysteries. I know that when I was a kid I loved watching any movie with a mystery that I could get my hands on. This is that kind of movie.
