She-Ra

For the Honor of Grayskull!! She-Ra and the Princesses of Power coming to Netflix in November!

Adora find the sword

Being a child of the 80’s I grew up watching He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Toward the end of the He-Man run in 1985 a new hero was introduced in her own show. The new heroine was She-Ra, Princess of Power. She was the long lost twin sister of Prince Adam (He-Man’s Alter ego) and she was orphaned in the world of Etheria. She grew up under the tutelage of Hordax, the evil guy who enslaved the place. While She-Ra was never on the He-Man show, He-Man and his cast of characters were on the She-Ra show, probably to hook in the fans of He-Man as this new show was introduced.

Fast forward to November 2018 (It’ll be here very soon) and we have a whole new She-Ra show, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Note the plural there. We are going to have She-Ra and her own cast of characters who will be fighting the Evil, Hordak and his minions. The cast looks amazing and I love that it is lead by the wonderful Aimee Carrero. I interviewed her once for her role on Young and Hungry. She was delightful. I know she will do a great job.

What I wonder here is, will this show provide a gateway to a spin-off of a new He-Man and the Masters of the Universe show? I can hope. I also want to know how they will explain the “For the Honor of Grayskull” call out that transforms Adora into She-Ra. Castle Grayskull is on Eternia, not Etheria. How will that be explained? I’ll have to watch and see.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below. Then after that more info about the show and some additional photos.

She-Ra and friends

The savior of Etheria is here as DreamWorks She-Ra and The Princesses of Power brings to life a story of magic, friendship, loyalty, and an epic battle for peace. Inspired by the popular ‘80s series, DreamWorks She-Ra and the Princesses of Power tells the story of an orphan named Adora, who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess, She-Ra. Set in a world where women are unabashedly at the forefront, the series brings forth indomitable female characters each with their unique abilities and flaws to empower and entertain audiences everywhere.

Eisner Award-winning author and executive producer Noelle Stevenson (Lumberjanes, Nimona) and executive producer Chuck Austen (Dawn of the Croods, Steven Universe) present a modern take on the ‘80s girl power icon by giving a generation of young fans a warrior princess that is tailor-made for today. The series will debut Friday, 11/16/18 exclusively on Netflix!
