Soar with Reading

Did your child do some summer reading? How about some trips and travel? JetBlue and PBS Kids have a joint venture called Soar with Reading – Let Your Imagination Take Flight. This is a literacy program that is free for parents and kids to use to help raise readers. The site soarwithreading.com is where parents can go for online reading tools, activities and also to log the reading minutes of your kids.

I received a special package to use in my house. It contained a copy of The Magic Treehouse #1. I read this over the course of two days to Eva, she enjoyed it. There is also an activity book and a Steve Songs CD. Eva loves music and loves to dance so I’m betting she’ll enjoy the Steve songs CD very much. We’ll do the activity book together soon too there are some fun things inside like drawing, coloring and talking about fun trips.

I registered with the Soar with Reading site and wanted to let you know that for every reader who registers on SoarwithReading.com, JetBlue will make a book donation to a child through First Book, up to 10,000 books. While I was there I also voted for the Richard’s Memorial Library because the campaign supports public libraries. At SoarwithReading.com families can vote for their favorite library in the Soar with Reading Sweepstakes. The winning library will receive $10,000 worth of children’s books courtesy of Jet Blue and Random House Children’s Books. And if you enter the winning library, you will have a chance to win a trip to Atlantis!

I have a special kit to give away to one lucky reader. The kit contains.

  • A Soar with Reading Activity Kit – These kits are distributed to families at JetBlue terminals all summer.
  • A Take-a-Long Hooper – To take with you and do fun travel photos.
  • A Book – the prize pack contains The Magic Treehouse #42
  • A Steve Songs CD – Steve Songs songs are really fun
  • A JetBlue Backpack – Great for back to school.
